Which is good, because it's such a bad idea I can't believe they were ever instituted to begin with.

I agree, but still think it's funny people care about it that much.
If you have a brain, you can read a guide and still think of things you would/should do differently.
If not then you're probably not that good anyway, wouldn't care much for the people who blindly trust everything a Vet says tbh :\

Only read the OP, who the **** wants to read 9 pages ?._.?
Just had to post this after reading through the reddit posts, many of them dealing with guides and MOBAFire vs. Solomid.
I don't know about the majority of people, but I usually never use guides, instead I take inspiration for my builds from other players, be that pro's or the random guy you're laning against.
Doing that helped me to get better at the game, know my champs better, deal better with uncommon situations and gave me especially one thing: An own playstyle. And that's something most players don't have.
Learning a champion all for yourself by try and error, with your style, itemization etc. is a nice experience. try it.

I actually read Duff's and Dyrus's Guides, but those guys are awesome. That's something else.

Yeah, i actually learned most of what i know now about AP carries by watching streams, and playing against good middle laners.
Yeah, I like to sit back a little more than most people, but when i see an oppurtunity, i will flash onto a guy to kill him.
That's because Duff and Dyrus are both good players, and hilarious. :S
Tri lane for life.
D'awwww :3

it's not fair and heavily stereotypical that only "posts around mobafire" show stuff like this.
however, everyone (in and out of mobafire community) that posts stuff like "lol my first game and i did so well which means this guide must be awesome" should just stfu and stop being dumb noobs.

Very much agree.
Votes should never be cast based on 1-2 games with a champion the player doesn't even play and whether they succeed or fail is usually on the player's shoulder anyway.
