The past few days have gone from euphoric as my favorite champion (the big metal man that brazil loves) was buffed enough to possible competitive use, to a low, as I reached a record losing streak while playing ad carries. Positive KD, pushing towers and double the enemy ad's CS, I would still lose every single game. I became fed up enough that I just insta-locked into my favorite ap caster, the purple robed yordle, veigar. Being a normal game, it was no where close to a decent idicator of how veigar was effected the last patch. Needless to say, I was matched up against an Ashe in mid (normal que... Sigh) and proceeded to go into "afk q farm mode" as neither Ashe nor veigar can really touch one another. However, I was building up an excess of mana so great by level 4 that I realized that I could actually harass with veigar... With merely a pair of boots and 35+ ap. It astounded me that the mana cost reductions on veigar's spells were so profound.

I proceeded to stun e, w q combo harass while maintaining excellent q farm, chipping away at ashe's health to a degree I had never been able to do in lane before. I proceeded to kill Ashe thrice, before she caved in and bought merc treads to reduce my e's duration. By changing up the order of my skills, poking constantly with my e, w combo and leading the Ashe with the w's cast, I came out at the end of the game with 6/1/0 the one death being me missing a stun in a 1v2, only enabling a single kill on my part. And with 200 CS by using w on any caster minions that I couldn't safely q farm, 334 ap with a dfg, 2 doran's rings and a needlessly large rod. The enemy team surrendered when I instantly bursted their fed Sion to 5% life at 26 minutes into the game.

Enough story time. My question is this, what are your opinions on veigar's buff? Is it a big enough buff to push him into competitive play? Have you had any success with him in ranked games? Just want to spark a discussion about the little guy.
Give the big metal man some love!

Ashe is one of the worse AD mids in the game, and AD mids are beat by AP anyways...

Not a good indicator.

Thanks to Xiaowiriamu for the sig!

I appoligise for any spelling or grammatical errors, but I was extremely tired and was using a mobile device to write the passages. Needless to say, editing large quantities of text on a mobile device is difficult.

I had already said it wasn't a good indicator being a normals game, but yes, Ashe is a terrible mid. I was merely using my abundance of excess mana as a gauge of how comfortable I was. Before the buff, la ing against even an Ashe was difficult for veigar, since she had an aoe she could actually afford to use! I max my w after q and r only putting a point into my e, proper use of e in lane is vital, and using it as often as it comes up not only yields little, but it drains your mana like nothing else, even with the buff.Others my disagree or agree with my skill distribution, but I feel that now that veigar can use his power in lane, he should abuse it. W has an amazing ratio, but using it to harass at max level while still throwing out q's for farm is splendid. Even if nothing is hit, you could potentially zone your opponent by constant harass. Which veigar has never been able to do in lane, because of his mana starvation.
Give the big metal man some love!

I haven't played the buffed Veigar yet...However when I played him more frequently he was quite viable, just difficult to use and beaten by someone like Vlad because Veig's mana costs were extremely high while his mana pool was rather small.

If these buffs are as good as they sound then Veigar will assuredly be strong. A valid and viable choice to mid IF the person behind the controls has some experience. He will still have a few problems like: mana issues, will be extremely farm reliant, squishy, and very suseptable to ganks if he over extends while his stun is down.

Ezreal is a viable pick against silencers like Kassadin that can crush enemy casters. But then you need AP power on top.

Talon is a good mid too, effectively an AD caster.

Not true.

He needs his spells a lot more than other AD champs.

Like Zep is saying though, Talon is good against Kass because of the silence he has and the insane burst damage.
