One core item: Tri-force.
Merc's also kinda core on him.
Randuins is also quite good, since u're gonna get focused a lot!(i build randuins on almost every tank though, SO BROKEN!)

It just means that skarner scales well with everything, so yes that is a good thing, u can spec and build almost entirely according to ur enemy and teammates(on the teammate regard some1 on ur team should ALWAYS have shurelyas, if ur support doesn't get it skarner is a good pic for it)

So i just had my first game as Skarner. (**** sleep)
I can say, that so far, he is hella fun to play.
We had a solo top Ahri, it worked fine. She just farmed and avoided getting killed.
My ganks worked 80% of the time (DAT ULT)
And i just discovered that my chat box blocks the enemies score... oh well, to tire to redo.
