A recent blog entry here on MobaFire inspired me to download GIMP. This is what I've done after playing around with a picture of my favorite skin for a while

Presenting: Zilean Getting Destroyed by the Time he Oh So Loves

I know it isn't much, but hey, ya gotta start somewhere :D

needs flow, dosent draw to any focal atm. needs more effects. play with colour more( gradient maps are awesome 1st start, then switch layer settings). also golden rule, which evry good gfxr will know: the bigger the canvas, the harder u have to work. pretty much, start with smaller canvas, if u have to resize the picture. tbh its a good start ( infinetly better than my 1st attempt at gfx). i recommend u to read/watch, some GOOD tutorials, most of the ones here ive seen aint too good.also download sum packs with renders, stocks, c4d, etc. and get sum good fonts.

just keep trying and dont be scared to try new things, and mess around( there is always ctrl+z, so dont worry). and be sure to have fun, really aint no other point in gfx, unless u getting payed 4 it or sumfin.

hope i helped

I actually find bigger canvas's easier :P

Anyways it looks good, but abstract art like that isn't my thing, so I can't really say anything about it.

lol, thats weired. imo, having a bigger canvas means more demand of effects, and pretty much a greater workload. maybe tis just i cant think of many ideas, idk

bigger canvas is harder o.o
i find myself spending a lot of time on an effect to find out that the rest of the artwork is still unchanged.

Thanks for the amazing sigs Brynolf,JEFFY40HANDS, Katoki, and myself

I think if you put the original render back over the top and lowered the opacity, it'd look a bit clearer and add definition.

Love the smudging though ^^

I see you're gonna try the smudging route, I recommend searching eddy-pochy on dA, and downloading some of his PSDs and tuts. Is there a way to use PSDs in gimp?

There's a tagwall of his. As said use a smaller canvas, crop it so only part of the character is showing. For a first piece it's fantastic, KIU :D just look at tuts, lots of tuts!
