This may not be what you have got in mind but I was thinking of maybe...
-Early game gank dominance (Thanks to 3 mobile heroes +
)
-Lack of AP (Teemo is not viable as a solid AP aside from hoping his mushrooms hit every minute)
-Balances team fight capability (
)
Considerable choice, despite not helping with pushing.

Elementz lays out a strategy almost exactly like this that is/was the common EU metagame. I think he even lists Shen & TF as their biggest problems.
Maybe Twitch could be your 5th character? He can down a turret in no time and stealth away before enemies can gank him. Then they won't know which direction he's heading.

My friend brought up an interesting point: How would you play to counter this build?
Personally I'd get my team together and push mid with a fiery passion. You know that the weak point of this team is team fights - why not force them into one?
What are your opinions?

Depends how far you are in the game because if you push down mid at lvl 12 or so, chances are you're not going to get very far if you want to get their nexus turrets. I guess that would work but counter ganking with wards, etc. might really help.

I would say push the open lane.
you said the focus was to draw attention to one lane, than go the oppostie side of the map.
I would say get some strong lane pushers and when your team left, push the lane. It be a turret for a turret, and it would become a race to see how far each team gets.
Or counter it with the same thing. A full Teleport Summoner spell team can raise some hell

A good counter would to have a 3-man push in 1 lane, with 2 champions guarding the other 2 lanes. They won't be able to do their thing by taking down a turret before you can roflstomp them, and you can clear a lane in no time. They'll have to team fight you to prevent more damage to their turrets.
Ah, but the problem with having 1 champion guard each side lane is that the opposing team can simply 5-man push one of those turrets. When your team comes running to defend it, they teleport across the map to take out another.
In addition, this 5-man team, bad as team fights as it is, can still mop the floor handily against any 3-man push. And the moment you commit more forces to defending the push, that's when the team teleports and takes out one of your turrets.
That's why I'm thinking that the only way to combat this team is to push, without paying attention to their pushes. Still, this might not work if they can wipe turrets faster than your team can.

Wouldn't be able to stop the Sivir, Heimerdinger, Mordekaiser, Taric, Shen combo... ^^
