For a while I thought I was really starting to get the hang of top lane. In my eyes the three most powerful top laners were Rumble, Gangplank and Yorick.

However I started playing with a friend recently and he starts playing Irelia, Wukong, Lee Sin, Xin Zhao and Jarvan top. And almost never loses.

After trying Lee Sin against Gangplank I came to the horrifying conclusion that Rumble was actually counterable. Not only that but that Lee Sin seemed uncounterable with standard top lane picks and Xin was a lot more powerful top than I had expected (Of course Shyvana beats him and I already knew Wukong was strong top)

So the question goes out.
How DO you counter Lee Sin top?
And apart from Shyvana who else would you counter Xin Zhao with?

To counter Lee Sin top alls you gotta do is stay behind minions and juke his Q so he can't dive/combo his skills. Other than that, i'm pretty sure there's not really a counter :p

Or you could be the better player.

From experiance, Nid and Kennen perform very well against Lee Sin solotop. They can harass with autos, and Kennen can use his Shuriken as well. Even starting off cloth+5 pots, every time you come close to a minion that's pretty much 1/2 auto attacks to the face, which is devastating and will force you to play safely and prevent you from getting the farm that you need.

Wuh. If Rumble was suppose to be GP, then I honestly have never lost GP to Lee Sin. Maybe that's just I don't play vs Lee Sin too much.

I believe Udyr does well against Lee Sin. He sustains better, shield blocks out quite a bit of Lee Sin's burst, and can set up ganks+do just as much damage. IDK though, I'm not a Udyr player.

Teemo is duh best.

Shyvana is such a weak solotop IMO... No sustain, pushes the lane if she wants to harass, and HAS to go in if she wants to do damage. Anybody with poke beats her.

I'm surprised Riven wasn't mentioned in your list of strong solotops.

Thanks to jhoijhoi for the sig ! :)

Lee Sin counter?

Remember you can't "counter" an energy champ with a mana caster champ.

Your options are rumble, Cho'Gath, AD carries, WW, Nunu, Udyr, Tryndamere, Riven, Dr. Mundo, Garen, Kennen, Katarina, Mordekaiser, Olaf, Wukong, and Volibear.

Out of those, the one that seem reasonable are Kennen, Mordekaiser, Cho'Gath, WW, Udyr, Tryndamere, and Olaf.

I don't think I've ever lost to a Lee Sin as Mordekaiser, but it would be easy to get behind i think.
Tri lane for life.

Good Lee Sins max E first, W second, and Q last.

even still he does 10% of your current health on a q, even at level one. and the damage is 50 + .9 bonus ad, so even at low levels its a good harass.

Oh okay so you can't go near the creeps at all.

90% of top lane picks lose lane for free now.
