If played well, I guess any champ can change the tide of a game, but who's really good at it? What roles can really affect the outcome of a game? What role can really screw up the game if they play really badly? (Not necessarily feed, but just do terribly.)

Also, what roles do most people generally want to play? Carries?

IMO Tryn/Akali top, if they win lane it starts to get really ugly quickly. These are snowball game champs.

Imo AP champs, Cass and Orianna have really good, "Oh man, that just won us the game." Skills.

As Orianna I once protected our Malphite with Ball as we were chasing the enemy team to their base, then after he ulted into the enemy team, I ulted and threw them all into my team. XD It was amazing. I can't wait to use her again after her buff. Until then, she's a really cool support.

And Tryndamere will always be a menace no matter how many times he gets nerfed. Even with all the CC's and Ignites in the world, he will STILL manage to run in and kill all your squishies before he dies. ;_;

Orianna is good right now. No reason to wait.

With Tryn, team fighting is over rated. I prefer split push like a boss.

Whichever role is up against a champion with a certain niche like if farmed up well they destroy late-game ( Nasus) or give them an inch of surface (few kills) and they become a force to reckon with ( Poppy believe it or not :-P) are the ones to be cautious of us "screwing" up. Usually its down in bottom with them feeding the enemy AD range carry or drastically falling behind in cs.

Solo top - Nasus (if the enemy laner is stupid enough to let you farm) & Akali as mentioned before.

AP range carries - Cassiopeia, even if you don't land Petrifying Gaze well - it will still deal a ton of damage and she does consistent burst.

AD range carries - AD range carries tend to thrive when doing well but Vayne & Tristana I found to bring to a new level of "hyper-carry" in that they snowball very well.

Supports - Sona, well timed Crescendo can turn the tables of a fight.

Jungler - Shyvana, that M5 vs CLG.EU second game should demonstrate how well she does in "come backs".

These are just some among many mentioned.

Why you bullying Heimerdinger? I love watching Scarra play him.

Heimerdinger is a sub par champ that only benefits a team that's good enough to not actually need a 5th champion.

Additionally scarrra is a pro...most other people who decide to play heimer in his current state of desrepair are not. If you're a pro do what you want because I'm not likely to ever actually play with them. But the more average players I am. I see heimer on a team I typically think "we're ****ed" but that's my opinion. I like heimer I just don't think his kit is actually viable right now.

She needs buffed like a boss. She can't mid at all, unless your opponent is terribad. Or you land some sort of lucky kill and win the lane.

I think most of the obvious contenders - those with AoE ultimates that can destroy people in teamfights - can all change the tides of a game (Cass, Sona, Brand, etc.).

That said, pre-nerf Vayne was probably my biggest fear, because she would ALWAYS get a few early kills, and then snowball into an unstoppable and untankable penta-kill generating machine.
Honestly I would rather have faced a Tryndamere, and in pub games that is saying something.

At the moment I actually think my favorite game changers are Galio and Maokai.

Galio obviously for his ultimate and really strong overall kit.

Maokai because I feel like he can single-handedly make your team succeed, even though he isn't a carry. It's like he just wills the victory into being.

Hes a situational pick granted with a high risk cost if you chosen without knowing the match-up. There is many champions which can put him away in their pockets and tear him along with team-mates a new one. I still think that he is a champion suitable to be mentioned in such an entitled thread - "What characters can really change the tide of a game?". Here is a fun clip at 2:14 to demonstrate what I mean by flipping the tables (although it seems that it requires the enemy team to have zero cool-downs up and being general dumb-skulls? o0).

Coincidentally I've never seen Scarra win a game with him, but that is due to me not watching him often enough of course. :-P
