Hi, I've been playing tristana pretty heavily recently and been doing pretty well, had a look through your guide and was curious, I usually do a long sword potion start, then vamp sceptre and recurve, b.f. sword, either blood thirster or runaans hurricane, depending on whether I want speed or lifesteal more at this point, but get both as my first two big items. After that its all situational based on laning opponents. Usually have both big items by the 20 min mark (althouh I am a low summoner level so take that into consideration.) Anyways my point is that this setup seems really effective especially for pushing lanes and soloing mid and I was wondering why you seem to go a very different direction?

I'll try out your build and see how it compares with mine tomorrow and may comment further. Either way I appreciate the effort that went into this and that I, having been playing for less than a week, really shouldn't be criticising a guide. Thanks again +1

Update: so I tried your build and found the item selection to be quite effective. However when adding the runaans hurricane and bloodthirster first, then getting last whisper and the infinity edge tristana completely dominated all the enemy team and finished with 25/4/6 which considering we had an early game dc and I wound up solo bot against garren and teemo, I think I did well. ^^ so thanks again for helping me perfect my tristana build. Hope this is helpful to others trying out tristana.

Great guide. Went 9/0/2, 12/1/4, 10/1/16 in first three games. Are you going to show a build for AP Tristana? Either way +1 for you

Maybe you can add a hextech gunblade in the build because it gives u AP and AD at the same time.

This build is one of the better ones, IMHO.

It specifically says "DO NOT JUMP IN TEAMFIGHTS" < That's hard to NOT do in some fights. I always does it when it's 2v1, or 3v1, but I always get backfired... Those fights always end up like 3v3 and 5v3 and me in the middle. Hihi..
Anyways, thing I didn't think of earlier is the skill order... For some reason I always ended up spamming Q, but I suppose that's not right.

Q however: If you get really fed, would it be wise to rush Infinity before the life steal/finishing boots? Or should you always buy them in that order?

Thanks again.

I am bad so I can't quote you back on your response, but I do understand where you are coming from with the burst idea. But in order to play Tristana in the first place, you have to have a support with strong engage potential, rather than burst/poke. The enemy team very likely have much more poke than you regardless of maxing explosive shot. For example, you may be facing Varus, Caitlyn, or Sivir. Regardless of their support, you will be facing large amounts of poke damage rather than legitimate engage damage. I can't say maxing Q first with Tristana will give the the immediate reward in laning phase as it would these other carries, but I can say that if you have a Taric, Nami, Leona etc. (being anyone with hard CC or good engage presence) you will almost always win when you engage. And if you consider Tristana's kit, engaging is what it is all about. I can't speak for what Riot intended with her explosive shot, but as for rocket jump and rapid fire they are all designed for either jumping into position to fight, or jumping out of a bad situation. I personally feel like Q should have a higher priority than you are giving it.

I apologize for the annoying paragraphs and difficult to read sections, I am still getting used to the system. I appreciate your responses and point of view. I would also like to point out that with Tristana I feel inclined to grab the most AD possible. During the mid and early game phase, I have been very succesful with leveling Q due to my not getting A/S items such as Zeal. Instead, I spend that money on a pickaxe or doran's blade and wait a little before getting more A/S. I can afford not to because the A/S buff on rapid fire is the highest on all carries. By about level 9, it is a 90% buff. Thus, damage without attack speed is viable.

So I have literally just joined the site so I can point out something which may or may not have been discussed first. I believe there is an issue with leveling up anything else before rapid fire. Being an auto attack champion to the core, one should simply not pass up the opportunity fire faster, doing more dps. When you don't level it first you are missing out on a wonderful chance to destroy the enemy adc with your shocking damage output mid game. Sure, you could use explosive shot five times and get somewhere. Or, you could do rapid fire and get a 90% a/s buff and dps the **** out of him. Please take this into consideration.

The problem with maxing your Q early is that you miss out on your early game burst damage and you may end up getting dominated by the enemy ADC because you can barely trade. Early game is all about burst and short engages and as such Rapid Fire loses out in its value here. Also, you will need your items to truly make Rapid Fire effective as your auto damage will be rather low and your skills don't scale off the small amount of AD you may have purchased during laning phase. It really isn't worth sacrificing Tristana's strong early game burst damage for increased attack speed during mid game, because your auto attacks will do mediocre damage even with a large attack speed boost. It's because of her lack of AD scalings in her abilities that makes her a weak mid game carry.
