I don't know how good you are with skillshots, but with kennen I improved a lot by not using smartcasting on the Q.
Landing perfect Q, even between minions, helps a lot, as your first mark means a W. For me, seeing the path the Q will have helped me alot to land those Q and applying better pressure.
Also, dont fall into the trap of using Q for farm : it definitily helps, but having Q ready when the enemy is in a good position is priceless. If you just Q-ed a minion, the enemy knows he can harass you and you wont be able to trade. (the Cd is not really low on early lvl)
Always have an eyes on the W passive effect, as the 5th autao-attack applies a mark (so a W active and a stun if your Q lands). That does'nt mean to try to hit the enemy each time you have a super AA, but it helps a ton when a mate ganks your lane.
Using the E for clearing wave may not be a good idea. If you're at your tower, an E and a W could not kill the minion and you would only loose last-hit. And if E is on CD when jungler ganks you .. can be bad.
Zhonya and Rylai have different uses, there is no "build-order for everygame". Even Abyssal Scepter, depending how you deal against some AP. In team fight, you may be the initiator or a member of the "frontline", or could just be the "Ap coming 1 sec after and dealing tons of dmg", so your team comp could change what you build.
Seeing a good kennen in action (CLG froggen), I don't feel he's a specific counterpick or counterpickable, it depends more of the enemy's playstyle. Overall, he is a strong champ in mid lane. For top, you will make pure melee top cry in early game, but with some counterbuild and good farm they would beat kennen in lane situation later.

You can't go wrong with magic pen marks, armor seals, scaling AP glyphs, and flat AP quints, since those are pretty common runes to have. If you want to seriously invest in runes just to improve Kennen play, however, energy regen seals and/or glyphs as well as spell vamp quintessences are extremely strong but also very expensive.
I dunno guys I take flat Mres blues and hp/level yellows. Armor seals suck on Kennen because of his high natural Armor. Since I'm mid 90% of the time, the flat mr helps a lot.
Better play Kennen now. Sooner or later, people will notice how broken he is and he'll be permaban, for sure. He didn't even need those buffs from a while back, lol all it did was make him op.

Yeah what's Jebus said. Just run standard Kennen runes or if you feel very strong, Move Speed quints don't really hurt either.
Also I don't really think it's a tip since generally most Kennen players do it but charge up your Mark of Storm auto attack before team fights to maximize stun time.

AP mid would be standard magic pen.
Seals I run energy/5/lvl. Yes, I know how to manage energy on Kennen. I played 50ish games with mana regen seals. That doesn't mean these seals aren't good, being able to spam a .7 ratio nuke every 4 seconds is kinda a big deal.
Glyphs I run flat MR seals.
Quints flat HP.
The reason you don't rune for AP on kennen is that his ratios (aside from his Q) are garbage. You are better off stacking up on defenses for your runes because early game (where ap quints are useful) kennen is almost all base damage. Scaling AP runes can work but MR glyphs are really strong on kennen in lane.

Just hit 1520+ elo (yay, golden!), and I've been meaning to buy Kennen for a long time. I've noticed that he's not really a 'perma-ban' champ (i.e. Kassadin, Morgana, Rammus, Shaco, Shen, etc.), and I've seen him rape face on many occasions. He can carry so hard with that ult = =
Anyways, I'm wondering what kind of rune page set-up seasoned Kennen players use -- suggestions? I'm mainly wondering about seals -- most of the guides here on Moba have hp/lvl seals, but I've seen high-elo players take energy regen/lvl seals instead. Worth it? Armor even? idk. :s
Suggestions and tips&tricks on how to play Kennen (or counter him) effectively also appreciated. Thanks @
