Lich Bane, Deathcap, more AP items.
It makes your Q scale 1.2:1 with AP. He doesn't have any good farming tools though so, it's hard to get there.

Well if you're going AD, you have your Q, ultimate(not as much damage as AP) and basic attacks that deal most damage. If you go AP, you have your W, E and stronger R but have no damage after that has been used.

I've played both AD and AP Ez quite a bit in the past.
AD has crazy damage from Q, R, and auto attacks, but almost none from W and E.
AP has crazy damage from W, E, and R, and decent damage on Q. But practically no damage on auto attacks
The reasons for going AD would be mostly for a highly mobile and long range AD Carry.
AP would be for having a highly mobile and long range AP Nuke.
Since AP Ez is not played to often, not many people know how powerful his nukes are.
They are extremely potent and can take out about half an enemies HP in one combo.
As for the items that would be core: Early game
Sheen, mid game
Rabadon's Deathcap->
Lich Bane, late game
Void Staff.
If I had to decide on which to play I'd have to look at team composition. As to which is more fun?
AP <3 Nukes

To be updated soon!
I have played AP Ezreal in the past, and it's a lot of fun, but you really rely on using your only natural escape-tool aggressively, which can lead to disaster.
If you're going AP Ezreal, I suggest you go mid, because you don't have the insane farming power that AD Ezreal has. You're also less sustainable, so being against two champions might get hard. Solo top against another champion might work, but don't try against for instance Tryndamere. You will waste all your mana and he will heal himself.
Focus on getting your opponent out of lane by spamming
Essence Flux in their face from long range. Try to zone them out of xp, and when you're alone, farm, farm and farm.
In lategame, stay back, out of teamfights. It might be beneficial to go into hiding while your team is doing Baron, staying at a safe distance from ambushes like Fiddlestick's ulti or
Amumu's ulti.
When the teamfight engages, your job is to hit as many champions as possible with your ultimate. Don't use your flash to get into position, unless you have
Flash as an escape-tool. You are best off in the jungle, because your ultimate is sometimes not avoidable.
Oh, and as a last note: Use smartcasting!
Go to the "key bindings" tab in the menu, and scroll down to "smart cast spell 1/2/3/4". Change them to simply the letters Q, W, E and R, in that order. You can now only press that button to shoot your skills, which is so much easier.
Good luck mate!

There is no victory without humility.
Maybe I haven't run into the right ap ezreal yet...but I laugh when I see one on the enemy team because I literally consider it a 4v5. I play ezreal...but never as ap unless I'm trolling for a chance to get a penta o_O

Why does no one play him as Hybrid with Hybrid Pen runes? I don't have all my reds yet but so far it's great. I make a Manamune+Rod+Lichbane+Gunblade and that stuff rocks. Shame I have to stop the farm and put 3k towards Urgot now.
It's because it's ridiculously expensive in game. If you're not fed as hell, you're probably not going to get all the items.

However, I've been seeing alot of talk about "AP Ezreal" lately, and I never have really tried it. Does anyone play AP Ez? It just seems like after your W, E combo, you're pretty much done dealing damage. What is the appeal of AP Ezreal, if there is any, and what items do you consider "core"?
