with that setup, you can't afford to start with crystal, 2x health pots, AND 1 mana pot unless you take Wealth . i understand that you explain it further but you should put your most common setup up top and explain alternatives in the body.

Havoc isn't worth sacrificing the CD reduction that you forgo by skipping out on Mastermind . If your Overload hits, oh say 500 damage per cast, 1% extra damage is (500)(0.01) = only 5 extra damage from havoc. seriously, these two points are useless. the only time I take fewer than 21 in utility is when i go 9-3-18 for 3 points in Resistance . that's it.

another masteries problem: why take tele and flash with so many points in utility without snagging summoner's insight?

to be honest, i have issues with guide up and down from the masteries to the runes (flat mp5 seals and glyphs?) to the gear (bad idea to rush RoA... don't worry about the passive stacks - just get it last, if at all).

if it didn't look half-way decent, i'd give it an actual downvote. the content is very poor.

@tomathome Masteries are set this way to allow you to have a 10% cooldown reduction within your masteries, With this you have 10% cooldown from masteries, 10% from your overload, and 20% with frozen heart. No need for CDR runes.

@BigFudge I take regen just to help early game, I see no need for mana per level, but do as you wish.

@kwokker If you have a regular metagame team comp, than by all means, but alot of the time you end up with stubborn people who wont play support.

@Fulundry All personal matter, They both work quite well.

@Infectious Lepar I made this all late at night, Bored out've my mind, Ill be sure to revise and add things.


lol u go all the way in utilty then stop at the last point dat is rofl worthy. to go along with the points in havoc ur build is lols

@zwolf If you are one to get yourself into those positions which you need to use summoners, by all means get the cooldown for summoners. That is depending on your jungler, F.E. I never see a skarner not grab blue. I dont see why a caster with sustained damage would need ignite, If anything replace teleport with exhaust. The runes are focused on early game lane sustaining, and mid-late game MP since you dont have any (other than sorc boots) His ult doesnt give magic pen. And no, Void staff is mediocre on ryze, Unless the whole team is Stacking MR, you have no need for it.

Guides are trying to teach how playing a champ works for you, not just how to play a champ
I agree my guide is lacking, and when i have a few hours of time, ill be sure to refise, edit, add things to it. Just not now.

The masteries are mostly good, especially the CDR part, but they're just kinda awkward. So you're so far into utility and you didn't get the 21 pointer. And the runes are kinda awkward, too. You have such a huge mana pool and you'll probably get the first or second blue buff that you can build up a tear and then you really shouldn't ever run out of mana, especially since you took teleport instead of ignite for whatever reason.

If I had to suggest, switch yellows for health/level and blues for MR/level, and take MS quints. You don't need magic pen if your ult does that and you're gonna get a Void Staff anyway... which you need in your build.

In a Ryze guide, you might want to explain the order of spells to get the most use out of his passive, 'cause that's kinda important.

And looking at your responses, making a guide is for helping other people that may not how the champion, not: "hey, this works for me, so whatever"

I am actually amazed how well this looks without any coding!

Reasonable build, a lot of the comments already mentioned have covered most of what I would say.

Suggestions:
-Take the time to go through "how to play" Ryze, at least some small ability combos.
-Because this site doesn't do very well with converting bonus damage ratios from passives, I would advise going into the game and saving his "actual" stats and posting those somewhere on here. otherwise by looking at the simple stats at the top of the page, Ryze looks like a wimp. (even though we both know he isn't)

The RoA that you do build is pretty late; I'd get it before Glacial Shroud just so its growing time is more effective.

Also, once you have tear you shouldn't have any mana problems. You can do a lot better with seals and glyphs.

Quick question: How is WotA better than, say, an additional RoA? Spell vamp is nice, don't get me wrong, but I would think you could ask your support (soraka/sona/janna/alistar) to grab one and stick with you.

Also, in your masteries, why not get an additional 15 sec off your flash CD? If you're planning to spend time dead, then take the masteries you did.

Also, if you're having trouble with going OOM early, consider going mana quints and glyphs. The damage is awesome, and it lets you exchange more early game. i think you should take mana per level runes, not regeneration runes, marks and quints are okay and roa is not that good at ryze. Also why do you get a glacial shroud so early if you will most likely lane against an ap champ mid, i think just because of de cdr its not worth, its better after catalysator. Also i think banshees and roa is not that good, just take banshees, roa is not that good on ryze. But at al not a bad guide.

more indepth and coding will be needed. for instructions, check out jhoijhoi's guide on making a guide. it could really help you get a template and layout. add in a section about lane matchups. turn on require comment to vote.
