No, they shouldn't.

I think it's a bad idea. Sorry if I don't like your idea, it's not like I'm punching you in the stomach or something.

It's cool, I pulled a Fiora and parried the punch anyway. :P

I wasn't attacking you for disagreeing with me. You are entitled to your opinion. As I said at the end of my original post, I welcome feedback whether it be positive or negative.

What I was saying was that you sort of implied with what you said that one can only gain Rep through the forums, which isn't true at all as I'm sure you are aware of.

If someone joins this site just to make a guide, keep it up to date and respond to comments/questions that other people post, then that's fine. No one should be forced to help others with their guides or be an active member on the forums.

I am saying that in order for one to post guides (which new people to Mobafire base their opinion of the site on), then they should show that they can positively contribute to the Mobafire community.

The fact is, Mobafire is viewed as a somewhat sub-par site simply because so many people who don't have a clue can make a guide and post it to the world. When people follow the guide and find out that it's horrible, they then assume that the entire site is bad. Yes I know that having this requirement in place doesn't constitute that the person making the guide knows what they are doing in that respect. But it does show that they have some knowledge of the game and are a positive person who wants to help. If you think the requirement to have a person attain a certain amount of Rep prior to posting builds is harsh, then so be it. Again, the 25 Rep base that I stated isn't something set in stone. The amount required could be 10 Rep, or even 5 Rep. I just feel that people should show that they are a part of the community and that they have knowledge of the game before they go and publish something that others base their opinions of Mobafire on.

The reason I'm posting my suggestions is because far too often there are those here in the community that find something wrong or that they don't like and begin a rant about it, yet they never offer any of their own ideas to fix the problem. I feel like if you are going to point something out, then you should at least have your own idea about how to address it. I want to improve how this site is perceived by the entire LoL community. I'm sick of seeing people make fun of Mobafire for having "sucky guides made by noobs" when those people are basing their opinions off of the first one or two guides they come across. As I've said before, one of the greatest things I like about this site is that it doesn't discriminate or hold back its member base by only allowing higher ups to create guides. My suggestion is not meant to discriminate either (although it obviously will but to a small degree). It is meant to improve our community, and in turn our guides, by having a more involved member base.

The problem isn't that people post sub-par guides, the problem is that sub-par guides can get to the #1 spot and remain there from momentum.

Ehhhhh I doubt Matt would ever do this anyway. I think it's better for his website to allow anybody to post guides.

I was a guide writer before I was a contributor.

I wrote my Ashe guide. Never participated in the forums. Had 0 +rep.

I don't think I would have gotten where I am today if I was forced to scrounge for +rep in order to have written my Ashe guide.

The "Private Message" c2v system sounds cool, but too much of a hassle. If you could tick a box in the C2V pop-up box that said, "Make this Anonymous" - that's feasible, but would mean trolling would go up, not down.

C2V forever is just bad. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have +1s only because people wouldn't want -1's on their Activity Feed. But it's the wrong way to go about these things.

Also, +rep doesn't mean +knowledge. You can't expect someone with 10+rep to write a good guide etc.

Same story here, wrote my offtanks guide when I had never set foot in a forum and had never interacted much with anybody at all on the website.
