He is pretty balanced. He will get really annoying with Q so dodge it if you can. Before a teamfight, DO NOT GET PULLED BY HIS Q! He will bring you straight into his team for them to rape you.

One of the best ganking junglers.
He isn't very strong early game, but it's totally worth a sacrifice if you can make it to mid/late game. Then he becomes overpowered. Very tanky with an enormous amount of CC ( Staggering Blow, Dredge Line, Riptide, Depth Charge).
Nautilus definitely fits jungle the most.
I've seen some top and mid Nauts, but they don't impress me as much as jungle Naut. His kit is really good, jungle speed is not very fast, but pretty sustained with Titan's Wrath.
His level 2 ganks may be one of the best. Not many champs have a pull, a snare and a slow at level 2 ;)

He's underpowered. Nobody should play him ever. And I mean, ever.

Anyway, he's real strong and even if he gets shut down early on, his CC is way too powerful. AoE/Line knockup+stun and a snare+bonus damage on every target he hits every few seconds.
While his shield scaling is a bit of a noob trap, it scales too well to not get health+resists on him.
He works well in all lanes and he puts out amazing damage if he absolutely has to.
AP build could easily be RoA, Abyssal and some kind of MR.
Tank is obvious but he needs GP5 to work real well in any role TBH.

I consider him the best tank in the game. Does that mean he's overpowered? No. It means you better be prepared when you see a Nautilus on the other team, because if you aren't he can snowball every one of his lanes very easily. The only reason I don't ban him every game is because very few people seem to play him.
He's a bit weak against counter-jungling and is somewhat team-dependant, like most tanks. Stealing his blue will slow down his gold earning a lot, cracking his shield reduces his damage and some champions are more resilient to his CC.
If you don't beat him early, your AD carry has to be able to hammer him down in team fights before he can get all his spells off. Otherwise just hope his team sucks more than yours and kill him last.

kk now that the free advertising is done, Naut is pretty strong. His laning is definitely notable but he shines the brightest in jungle imho. Although he is a monster in the jungle, he is easily counterjungled and that can really screw up his whole game.

It's just Nautilus is really hard to lane top against. He's also strong throughout the game, providing his constant *auras from items* effects, being extremely tanky and good amounts of crowd-control.

He has enough counters in top lane to prevent him from being a common pick. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure who all of them are because I haven't run very many matchups with him in top lane on either side. I would expect that he's countered by most of the regular tank counters like Udyr and Olaf.
