thx again for the long reply.
First i wan't to say i havn't beean against a janna or lulu yet. About soraka, it depends ehavily if they can play her well, and if the enemy AD carry is good.
About the rune choice, i think i will make a seperate build where i utilize both arP and AD successfully :)
About skills i am thinking of maxing W first, then equally level up Q and E. Since both skills get reduced cooldown from levelling i find it to give the best damage when utilizing [Blighted Quiver]] :)
I might also make a build for cdR hybrid Varus :)
You may counter Taric being agressive, but what about Soraka? Being agressive will make her level up her heal first, which is how she improves her carry's armor and survivability. And Janna's or Lulu's shields? They benefit from the target armor as well. There are many other problems in not running ArP rune set with Varus, main of them is that any carry will reach the lane without proper armor runeset.
If you pair armor runeset with AD runeset you will notice that the 9 armor yellow runes will mitigate a good portion of your extra AD. There are no much champions that can benefit from a full AD runeset (I can't think anyone but Corki right now), for that I recommend not running all your coins into AD. Better option according to other rune specialists is go for ArP Reds and AD Quits, being that the optimal configuration. Personally I do the oposite: ArP quints and AD Reds.
Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe you will start having problems with that later on xD
EDIT >> Just saying: maxing Q over E works better on AD Varus. With AS/AP build, maxing E first is the way to go..
About the arP i've had no problems with armor really. this may just be because I'm in low ELO and mostly play normal games. However in a normal game me and Leona bot just wrecked them. Leona scared graves away, and since she had exhaust, we could win any fight bot lane. Ill try testing ghost out, and i will also try to play some more ranked (ELO hell is a *****). Ill make a section for how to play against a lane like that later :) Basically if you are agressive enough, taric will be forced to level his heal first, which means they get minimun armor :)
I sincerely thank you for the long response. To me it is very helpful, and if everybody replied like that, all guides would be perfekt :)
First of all, I flatter you for the AD glyph trick. Not much people pay attention to that kind of small detail.
I'd like to have a better position about maxing Q over E, but I cannot actually tell in fact which one is better. If you're duo-laning, your Q pokes are essential, thus makes sense maximizing it first. However being able to nuke 15% of your enemy's HP instead of only 6% is indeed priceless. Still calculations to be done, but I prefer maximizing Blighted Quiver over Piercing Arrow, as it stacks so well with any AD item that you eventually purchase. Each level up on Piercing Arrow will boost 33 damage over it; way less than a B. F. Sword. Keep that in mind if you want to make some improvement.
For your runes, I see what you intended to do here. However I'd suggest you swaping for an ArP set. Even if your Piercing Arrow stacks so well with AD, late game the enemies with stacked armor will mitigate so much of your damage that you will not feel that extra AD anymore. And believe, they will stack armor. You can counter it with Last Whisper, indeed, but you cannot pull that one early on in game, meaning you will lose in lane pretty hard if your enemy has some extra defense (let's say you're duo-laning against Taric and Graves, what happens more than often; with no ArP you are pretty much screwed)
For your items, I agree with Phantom Dancer only and only for the move speed. Positioning properly with Varus is all. There are way more effective and less expensive items with nice attack speed bonus that will benefit Varus much more than Phantom Dancer. That said, I completely disagree with Infinity Edge. It's a waste of money and you are not doing other thing than the same boring, old and nothing special cookie-cutter build, that can make even Soraka destroy anyone. In my very own opinion is a waste of Varus potential. Remember, he stacks with AD, not with crits. It's a boost, yeah, but you got the idea.
I'd recomment Ghost over Flash for Varus. However it's optional for every player. I just find that Ghost paired with Hail of Arrows and Chain of Corruption are such a great combo that allow one to get out of an scary situation and come back to the fight quickly once the proper positioning is recovered. It has lower cooldown than Flash as well, and you gain one mastery point (instead putting 2 points, one into Summoner's Resolve and Summoner's Insight , only one point into Summoner's Wrath will do the trick.)
Well i believe it's all. I have some more in-deepth tips but that ones I will save for my own guide when It comes the time :D
Good luck and keep the good work!!
Just u have a mistake in cons,u wrote that he doesn't have anything for escape. That is not true.U have as example flash-u can run from ganks if u are mid, just flash back to turret,or trough walls. And u have ulty for shackle and for slow E. :)
thx for your response :) Its hard getting people to see it when you are not the first one out there :)
