I would not recommend volunteering to support until you hit like 1600. I would get good with another role and try to win that way. Go back to normals and practice one role and get really good with it (be able to do other roles, but excel in this one). Then go back to ranked games. Type in chat that you want to play that role as soon as you can, and try to play the champ/role you're best with every game. If I ever find I seem to keep losing ranked, I go back to normals and practice up before I try ranked again, because that usually means you need to become more skillful.
This is the best way to get out of low elo. Once you get out you can diversify a bit more.

Yeah, great advice. Trying to climb elo as a support is... hard lol, and this coming from a support player. What i usually do if i DO get stuck with support, is play Maokai, play lane phase as a support, then crank myself up to carry at the end of lane phase/beginning of teamfight phase. Also, its hilarious when people rage that the "support" has 2 kills more than the AD carry at the end of the game. Lol, you would be amazed at how much damage a Mao with lich bane, frozen heart, and ryalis can do.

Hey, if you liked any advice i gave, be sure to +rep me! Oh, and check out my Shaco and Maokail lorecraft in my Blog! I'm a starving artist in need of attention, so please feel free to read, respond, and critique me! Please? Anybody that leaves a comment (good or bad) will receive a +rep!
There's always the option of playing the aggressive support.
I play Leona or Ali every time I'm "forced" to support and they work out fine.

First rule is you should be playing one of your best champions. If there are two or three champions that you excel at (compared to other champs), try to play them as much as possible.
My best champions happen to be in mid and top lane, both of which are quite nice if you're trying to carry. Solo lane farm allows you to dominate your lane and hopefully start to snowball other lanes around mid game. Mid lane is probably the best for this as it's quite easy to gank one of the side lanes. Top lane is a bit more out of the way, but that also means you won't have to deal with a fed enemy Ad carry until later in the game.
The jungler has a lot of influence on the game, but it's harder to carry a team alone. You can choose to main jungle, but keep in mind that it is a more team dependant role than a solo laner. You'll be reliant on coordination with your laners in order to secure kills and objectives like dragon. If your teammates are at least competent, you should be able to exercise a lot of control over the course of the game. Make sure you pick a high damage jungler capable of snowballing though. It's generally necessary if you want to carry yourself out of a low elo.
AD carry can work, but if you have no one to tank you can get pretty screwed. You'll also rely on having a support that doesn't weigh you down. I find it more difficult to dominate bot lane in soloqueue (partly because I'm not great at AD), but you can definitely do it if that's one of your main roles.
Like Mowen said, stay away from support as much as you can until you start queueing with people who are close to your skill level. You might have to support sometimes if you're last-pick or everyone is demanding the other positions, but for the most part you'll want to be playing someone that can actually carry a game.
tl;dr: Any position (other than support) is fine. I prefer Mid over Top and Jungle over AD, but it really depends what you're best with.

There are 3 champions that I can always rely on:
Galio (anywhere),
Skarner (jungle),
Pantheon (anywhere)...
Because they all have versatile playstyle/roles and don't really have to rely much on allies, just requires them to be remotely competent 4 year olds. I would say
Ezreal because your AD Carry of choice can usually snowball and carry a game relatively easily, just not as reliable because if your allies are too simple-minded, well-placed CC can ruin your life.
Two words:
DUO QUEUE :P
So true. Practice a lot with a friend in normals and either play Support/Carry or a combination of the solos that way you actually have control of a large percentage of the game (less requirement to trust allies).

Personal habitual activites? Utilizing gargantuan idioms to fabricate intelligence.

I have a question. Im playing ranked for a while now, but im very low Elo, because i usually play support and had much unluck with my carry or my team at the beginning. The problem is, that you cant change the match as a supporter, even if you play well. After falling in the 800 Elo region i wasnt able to raise it again.
What can i do to get more Elo now?
Greetings, Alissera.
