I ran him standard AD carry and had no problems honestly. His Q takes getting used to, yeah, but once you understand the whole mechanic of it; it's not difficult.
The axe goes in the direction you are moving, therefore, if you start moving while the axe is moving towards it's target (or right before it hits the target) it will path itself to be pretty much at the end of a straight line from the direction you were moving in when it hit the target.
For example:
I throw the blade at a minion, and start moving backwards from the minion right before it hits the target. The blade then aims itself at a spot where if I keep moving backwards in a straight line, I will catch it.
The problem with learning the trick, and then playing Draven a lot, is you get so used to moving to catch axes. It seriously throws off your game on other characters.
Runes I use:
9x
Greater Mark of Attack Damage
9x
Greater Seal of Armor
9x
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
3x
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Just use normal 21/9/0 masteries. I went Q > W > Q > E then R > Q > W > E, that steroid is pretty powerful. If you're jungler is ganking put a point into E at level 2 instead.
Item build:
Boots + 3x
Health Potions OR
Doran's Blade
Get the other one you didn't get
Doran's Blade
Vampiric Scepter
Berserker's Greaves
Infinity Edge and
Zeal (whatever order you want)
Phantom Dancer
Last Whisper
Bloodthirster
Guardian Angel
I don't really understand the whole part of "He gets hit by any movement CC, he's dead." Surely if you throw and axe and move in a way so that it goes forward you would die on any other non dash AD's being that close?
Like, if I'm
Ashe and walk up to the enemy to
Volley them, any strong slows/hard CC will get me, I'm already out of position. It's not different at all for Draven. In fact, assuming your auto attack range is longer than their crowd control, it's pretty fun hitting the guy and running backwards while it is flying to avoid retaliation.
There is another thing I'd like to know, and it's been bugging me. Everyone thinks it's the end of the world that you can't really catch axes in teamfight. It's just an AD steroid, without it, Draven is the same as any other AD carry, still does the same damage, maybe more because he has an AS/MS steroid and a bleed from critical hits. You can also prime an axe for normal last hitting purposes and carry two axes when the teamfights start, so that you can just throw both of them at the beginning and refresh your W quickly.
I dunno, it's just so annoying when people treat it like it's the end of the world. I'm starting to rant on, so I hope I've helped some and I'm gonna end this respone right here before I go on for even longer >.>

you're still doing great dps if you just q each time its up and dont worry about catching it.
just flat out stacking ad is so fun, 1k crit qs.
I'm still getting like 900 crit Q's with a normal AD build, and it is pretty fun.

He's way too easy to predict with that q. "aim rocket arm here"
Which is why you learn how to control it and move it to not so predictable places. Plus, you shouldn't be worried about catching axes if you are gonna be in plain line of sight on nasty CC/heavy damage.

He makes for one helluva a jungler!!! One Q can get you through each camp. When you exit your first run through of the jungle, you're at full HP and full mana. It's absolutely epic.
His ganks are a little weak though, because Push Aside is your only real CC. Still, I think he can be a decent jungle pick!

I did a pretty standard AD runepage and masteries for him, nothing unusual. ArPen runes, armor runes, usual stuff. Skills I started with Q, then W, and then E. In terms of maxing I went R>Q>E>W.
Items... this I feel like I'm missing something. I started with Doran's Blade, then went back for boots. What boots I built depended on the situation, but usually either Greaves or Tabi. I then rushed Bloodthirster. I feel like there are better item builds out there, I just don't know what.
So.. yeah. That's my impression of Draven. Any thoughts? I think he could be run as an AD Carry or maybe even a solo top. I almost feel like I want to jungle with him, but he doesn't have any good gap closers or slow/stuns for ganks.
