I heard Cho is gonna get some small buffs next patch. He has always intrigued me because of the possibility of going top, mid, and jungle. Also, he gets so big! :) Just wondering what everyone's opinion of cho is atm? He doesnt seem to be played very often. Is he weak? Where does he fit best, and how do you guys build him? Thanks!

I'd say jungle but everyone else would say otherwise. He has a ton of damage if going AP too :P

Bruiser cho is optimal imo :P
Duff's guide on offtanks has a good cho build I use often.

I find in my low elo games that I'm better off limiting myself to champs that can snowball a game out of control. Can cho carry a game hard? (I know everyone CAN kinda, but some have easier time I think)

I hate seeing AP cho. Hate it so much.
It feels like a huge waste, from someone who
you'd expect to be enormously tanky.

I think cho is alright, but only if he's
actually played well. It's not like with Rammus
for instance, wherein anyone can click an enemy
to taunt them. Love his tankiness.

Well I think he can because he punishes enemy misplays in lane quite well. (QWR)
Later on he also becomes really tanky and also does quite a decent amount of damage as well. His CC disrupts also cause the enemy team to panic.

Very good champ, his passive sustain makes him an amazing survivalist both in lane and in the jungle. Off-tank AP bruiser is the best way to go with him, altho i've been meaning to test an on-hit build with him, as it seems like it may be able to work fairly well.

'Dat sustain' would describe him really well :P

He's reeeeeeeallllly good if you use him properly, but absolutely terrible if you're bad at him (like me).

AP Cho'gath is a fun mid counter to anyone who has low range. So far I have effectively used AP Cho against Rumble, Lee Sin, Dr. Mundo, Akali, Karthus, and Katarina (not all of these mid). You max W first for increased silence duration and an easier-to-hit nuke, E second for huge sustained damage on your autoattacks, and Q last because you want to save it for the knockup rather than using it as damage (even though it will do Tons of DamageTM with some AP, it's better when used strategically). As long as you can last hit effectively, his sustain is monstrous early game, his burst is huge, he gets hilariously big, and is generally effective at punishing your opponent for trying to farm.

Play style is simple. Any time your opponent is close enough for you to hit them with W and either A) you can also hit minions or B) they are trying to farm, hit them with W. A lot of people can't farm effectively under tower before they go back the first time to get items, so push your lane a lot early on to deny your opponent's farm. Once you get your ultimate, eat minions until you have 6 stacks. Ward enemy wraiths and try to take them when they're up, after pushing your lane, for even more CS advantage and to set back the enemy jungler. You're not likely to get many kills except against subpar opponents who won't leave lane even after you harass them a lot, but you should end up winning the lane due to a huge CS advantage. That said, Cho mid rewards aggressive gameplay; remember that you are way tankier than most AP mids and have tons of sustain. Take tower after an item or two.

In teamfights, you should either be using Q to try to catch the enemy AD carry or to protect your own. Try to land W on as many enemies as possible, then autoattack whoever needs to be focused. You should try to be at max Feast stacks for every fight, so that you can use R early in the fight as a big nuke. Cho'gath has good AP ratios on all three of his activated skills, so with a decent amount of AP you should be able to 100-0 their AD carry between the time they get knocked up and the time they hit the ground.

Outside of lane, R can also be used to secure dragon and baron, and can help Cho counterjungle when he has the opportunity to steal enemy buffs, and Q can be used to check bushes (it grants vision now!) and prevent most opponents from chasing you.

For items, you're going to want to build tanky AP. Frequently my first two items are RoA and Rylai's, though you can also go Deathcap and Rylai's if you're doing really well. Rylai's is a must for added utility on W and E, even though you don't need the HP (HP, however, is pretty much never bad to have more of). Round out the build with Deathcap (if you didn't build it earlier) and Frozen Heart, Abyssal, Zhonya's, Athene's, or the like as needed (the Heart is your preferred armor item).

Also, before anyone gets on my case, I'm aware that AP Cho isn't ideal, and that he can be countered. I just hold that, played AP, he's a great counter to certain champions, and is really fun to play.
