Ever since I've played the game, I've only mastered AP carries (kind of). I know which item to choose and how to adapt at any time.
Recently, I've tried to change roles. I suck horribly as a melee AD carry 80% of the time so I tried learning to tank. My main tank champs are in no order: Shen, Alistar, Blitzcrank and Rammus.

Just a couple of questions: (As a bottom lane tank-support)

- How do I make sure my lane partner doesn't get harassed?
- How do I recover from being harassed?
- How do I make my lane partner commit to a fight I initiate? (and why do they never commit and leave me to die most of the time >:| )
- A request on an item build if I lose my lane fight/lose my tower.

Thanks in advance.

That's his job. He shouldn't be getting poked unless he's outranged (see graves v caitlyn). If taric charges him and stuns him, you need to jump onto THEIR carry and stop them from dpsing your adc. never exhaust the support unless you're going for the kill and their adcarry isn't near.

- How do I recover from being harassed?
Philo stone, ninja tabi, heart of gold help. Keeps your health up. You can also sit in the side bush. Keeps you from getting poked.

- How do I make my lane partner commit to a fight I initiate? (and why do they never commit and leave me to die most of the time >:| )
Ping. Also, ask if they want to jump champ XYZ. Don't just do it. They might not be ready/expecting it. Ping, say "get kog'maw?" If they say "yes" then go for it. If they wanna be passive and farm, call them a *****.

- A request on an item build if I lose my lane fight/lose my tower.
Same as if you were winning. faerie 3 wards pot, then go for philo and boots, then HoG, then it just depends on the support you're playing. You can go for aegis, shurelyas, zeke's herald, and others. It just depends. Standard build is boots, 2 gp10 items, and lots of wards. You can pick up pieces of aegis as you get the money, and you can get an oracles when you feel the time is right.

First thing is that if you are going tank-support, you're not really tanking, you are supporting

The difference? you might ask

As a support, you should be getting items that will help the whole team, like Aegis of the Legion or Frozen Heart, they have an aura. You should buy wards, map control is perfect

As a tank, you'll need defense. Randuin's Omen, Force of Nature, maybe a Frozen Mallet or Warmog's Armor are great items. The idea is survive and disable enemies. Shen can taunt, Leona has 2 stuns (ok, her ult may not stun every time)

That's the first thing to decide: are you tanking or supporting?
And slasher answered the questions, gj man

When bot with a person you don't know, you need to coordinate with your ADC by pinging and writing, just as mentioned above, and you need to do it a lot, especially when you're playing such a role. Leona, Alistar, Blitz or Naut can engage in an instant and if your carry isn't ready, then you're gonna have a bad time. 1v2ing, of course.

When it comes to item builds, there's not much you can choose, really. Shurelya and Aegis are your core most of the time, go for Zeke's Herald if you have a lot of ADs going on who need the stats, or Frozen Heart if the other team has a lot of AD threats... It all depends on what your TEAM needs.
