Now you can browse for guides quickly and easily with much more detailed filters. Working with the vets we adjusted all the filters for browsing guides to better help you narrow the results to just what you're looking for. Now you can filter by Lane, Role, New Champions, Author ELO and more!

To further assist your guide search we updated the browse results to include build information! Now the core 6 items from the first build in any guide are listed right on the browse page. We hope this assists you in finding the right guides!

Head over to the browse page and check it out! As always we want to hear your thoughts and ideas!

note: There is a script running to update all guide records, it's still finishing up so a small percent of guides don't show their item info yet. They will shortly.

We also added ajax scrolling to the homepage discussion. You can now find all the comments you may have missed by scrolling through them right there on the page. For members there is also no longer a delay from caching so you won't miss a single comment!

Fantastic update, love the addition of the build items to the browse function - whoever thought of that deserves an award :P

Keep up the great work :)

Oh, I noticed that I can break the recent activity if I press Previous or Next too fast. Don't know if that's just an error on my end, or if it's just refusing to reload if I've clicked it too many times ^^

Edit: It is default set to "All Guide Types" - was this intentional? For example, if I search Karthus, my Making a Guide Guide is displayed first. I think it should be default set to "Champion Guide".

Additionally, in the Guide Types drop down, Dominion should be removed now that we have a "Map" filter.

Edit edit: Some builds show Doran's Blade instead of the end game boots D:

Glad you're liking it!! We're really excited about the new browse page :)

@jhoijhoi, I have an issue posted for us to drop the "Dominion" guide type - now that there is a map dropdown there's no point in this category.

Regarding defaulting the list to champion, we'll have to give that some though. We could automatically change the guide type to champion if you choose any of the champion filters maybe. just not sure if that will annoy users. We could also just filter out non-champion guides when you have champion fields selected, regardless of your guide type selection. Need to come up with a solution that is intuitive.

The discussion box yeah, I noticed that too. I'll see if I can figure out why that breaks it, it's a bug in the javascript.

The dorans, can you link me to an example search and guide where that happens? I'll take a look at the "core items" code and see if something is off.

A few things:

Gold Elo still shows plat and diamond; this is fine but it should be stated in the filter that it is gold and above, plat and above, etc.

It is fine if you go to that page and you see builds by newest, but as discussed previously I personally believe that once you select any kind of filter it should, by default, set it to ordered by score.

Finally, what about arranged Elos?

Matt: Making it default to champion is really intuitive. When people come to MobaFire, they're not looking for guides about random stuff with a random champion build (my Making a Guide Guide, Searz's Rune Guide etc) - they're looking for a straight up champion guide for the champion they've typed into the champion box. Alternatively, if you don't want to take it away from "Any Guide", enforce a rule that general guides can't have builds in them - I'm happy to support that idea, as it will basically remove the risk of general guides being #1 for random champions. For example, I could just add builds for Ashe, Annie, Ez, Alistar, Morgana, Jayce etc to my Guide to Making a Guide and get it at the top of every "popular" search. While I, personally, wouldn't do that, I can see this sort of feature being abused by people, or just used accidentally.

I remember a comment about instead of showing diamond, plat and gold, just for it to say "high elo" and have all of those encompassed in it. Who really is going to think "yup, gold is what I want to look at" when they see those categories? Realistically if they're looking for a high elo guide, they're hoping to get more than one result; by having a "high elo" category, they'll be introduced to guides from all 1500+ elos and that will give a better sample pool of guides to choose from.

The example of one build showing incorrectly is [url=http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/browse?sort_type=score_weighted&sort_order=&champion_new=0&champion_free=0&champion_melee=0&champion_ranged=0&champion_search=vayne&map=&lane=&role=&guide_type=&threshold=guides&freshness=Stale&author=my own Vayne guide.[/url]

I agree with Wrath about being set to default "Highest Rating". As discussed in other threads, while setting it to "newest release" helps new guide AUTHORS, it doesn't help new guide USERS. MobaFire has far more guest users who want to read guides than regular members who write guides. The front page has a panel dedicated to new guides, I believe the browse search should be set to "Highest Rating". What would be their impression? Someone completely new to MobaFire who searches for Skarner or something. That all the Skarner guides have 3 or less comments, sitting around 60%? Why waste time with MobaFire when clearly all of those guides have no votes? Maybe if they bothered, they'd set the filter to "Highly Rated" after looking around. But let's be honest. How many threads do we get in the support forum about completely inane things that are in the FAQ right near the "create thread" button? =.=

^exactly

also looks better to swap to a champion and see the cream of the crop straightout, not potentially the worst.

I do agree with merging the 3 Elos to just "High elo (Gold+)" and making it a filter with a checkbox instead of a dropdown, and still have the different Elo badges show. As nighthawk mentioned in a different thread though, we might get a lot of **** if we group gold with "high Elo", so maybe we should come up with different terminology.

I am also for just having a "general guides" section with no champion selections and having the build finder default to champion guides; however still allow the addition of builds for general guides like jhoi's, where you need those 2 builds as examples. Just don't group them with actual Karthus guides if they are labeled as general, and make a notification letting people know that it will be put in its separate general category, and to please keep it that way if it is indeed a general guide.

another kinda side thing -- Elo badges should show in guide comments as well, for obvious reasons.

And @Jhoi,

what is that link? says nothing is found o_O
