Hai guis.
Recently I was watching the IPL5 stream. In between the k-pop they would occassionally show some LoL games, where I noticed CLG (and later other teams) begin playing a lot of Caitlyn + Nunu with Doublelift making some amazingly sexy plays and getting one pentakill and one almost-pentakill. After changing my pants, I decided it was time to play some Caitlyn.
Since then I have come to the conclusion that Caitlyn is the best **********ing champion in the game, so to pre-empt everyone playing her I'll be writing a new Caitlyn guide to replace my old one which I released almost exactly one year ago when I was really bad.
If anyone's interested here are a couple new things I've figured out so far:
-ArP runes were nerfed so AD is probably better now.
-
Infinity Edge was nerfed and it also takes FOREVER to build an IE considering
Vampiric Scepter is now twice the price and you need to build it. This makes
Bloodthirster more attractive in many circumstances especially since it was actually buffed.
-Starting with a
Doran's Blade or a
Long Sword can be pretty ridiculous. Hitting two or three good Qs can pretty much gg your lane.
-Utility tree is now more attractive so 21/0/9 (or 21/6/3) is likely.
-Playing with a
Nunu & Willump support is ****ing godlike. It makes her lane ridiculous, fixes her ****ty midgame and makes her a god lategame. Nunu is a beast. If your support can't play Nunu make your jungler do it.
-Other supports that can work very well -
Nami,
Lulu,
Sona,
Janna
-Caitlyn has no losing matchups. Played well with a good support she can beat anything, and she's capable of completely destroying a lot of lanes.
PSA: CAITLYN'S LATE GAME IS EXTREMELY STRONG. STOP SAYING IT SUCKS.

GP-cait funniest lane ever.
ALL the poke.
...
I had support morgana.
Sona tries to harrass
GG.
That Q does some serious damage.
nu arp still better (saw the math somewhere, apparently arp still does more damage from level 3 onward) especially now you don't need AD runes to last hit anymore cos you can just start long sword
but ya cait is best
yah probably
aaand you prolly wanna go for 19/11 anyway or 19/8/3 if you really want utility
Don't like this setup anymore. The minion damage reductions are all gone and to be honest in a proper Caitlyn trade you don't even get hit in return by the enemy champ. I like getting mana regen to spam Q because realistically if you're using traps to zone and pressing Q a lot you are going to run low on mana.
Doublelift actually used 21/0/9 even before the S3 changes.
Since Vampiric Scepter now gives AD and Doran's Blade doesn't help AD carries transition into the end of mid game the same it did in season 2 with scaling lifesteal, you can do Vampiric Scepter + 1 Doran's Blade, which is cheaper than 2 Doran's Blades and the old Vampiric Scepter, and still go Infinity Edge first.
This is what I have been doing so far, I don't like stacking Doran's anymore. Hopefully I'll experiment with starting BT or rushing Brutalizer in the near future.
I've played cait recently (randomed) and I really felt like she was much stronger now and she was last time I played her ( begining of season 2). I don't remember her being buffed directly, so she must've been buffed indirectly trought items buffs and nerfs. I'll go try ranked with her now, see if I can pull out something decent with her now.
P.S. Glad you're back in the game
She received several minor buffs including Q dealing more damage than before if it passes through minions, E's animation being faster and not glitching with binds, and R has a lower channel time and higher range.
Additionally, Caitlyn is quite strong against the 'holy trinity' of ADs and can absolutely **** on Vayne or Kog'Maw, which makes her something of a soft counter to all the current popular picks.
Danke. :)
P.S. Glad you're back in the game
(sorry I just had to)
@math: Arpen does mr damage to champs, AD does more damage to minions
21/6/3 looks good too
Nunu caitlyn is fking awesom
And Cait's late game is fine.
