You're aware we're in S3 right? as in not S2.

You want doran's shield when you plan on fighting the enemy lane to the death, or they plan on doing the same. (or against a carry that outranges you, and is poking a lot. Namely

Might work, now that you put it this way. I'm going to try it out.

This is what I am suggest buying:
1. Starting items (i.e. longsword2, cloth5, flask etc.
Doran's Blade
Doran's Shield
2.
3.
In that order
(Unless of course, it is a game where you wouldn't want to build a doran's shield.)
Takes up two slots instead of one.
Isn't obtained as fast.
Doesn't have the shield's unique passive.
I was talking about getting that instead of a second doran's shield. If you didn't notice, I'm the OP xD.
Getting a Doran's shield isn't worth it without the unique passive. If I still needed more defense, I would grab a cloth instead. Then if I STILL needed more, I would consider a ruby. (And sell both when I needed room)
10 AD equals more efficient last-hitting, the 5 health per attack passive will eventually heal more than your 5 armor rejects. I'd prefer
Seeing as
1. We still get one
2. Most people start with a long sword for vamp scepter.
do you really need an extra 30 AD just to last hit?

Well, you would probably win lane pretty well, but if the enemy ADC survived lane, you would wind up behind. Ninja tabi are not useful on ADCs late game, so I would rather just get a cloth armor if I needed it.
