Untrue. The definition of discrimination is to treat an individual or group differently based on factors which are irrelevant to the situation. That isn't the case. If we are dealing with LoL-related issues, then answers provided by players with a higher ranking could be valued more than answers provided by players with a lower ranking; that's common sense.
If I have a problem with my calculus and I value the opinion of a history professor more than the opinion of a second-year maths student because he is a professor; that'd be complete ********. If the guy was a professor in maths rather than history, it'd suddenly make sense.

who cares as long as i have the gold border??? wasnt it you who said that the borders dont mean you know how to play?
I care, and your attitude towards getting others to play on your account and earn your ELO for you has pretty much made me want to ban you from ever being verified.
Also just saying, when people don't know how to play the game they're going to take any guide that's at the top and accept it as fact, regardless of ELO. People that know how to play the game can think for themselves and the fact that they have a good ELO, while giving their opinion weight, won't be an automatic "this build is law."
Whether or not you want to accept it knowledge and skill affect the validity of a person's opinion, it's called ethos. Someone could be a great self-taught dentist, but no one's going to hire him without a certification proving he can do his job. Luckily this is a videogame and people can accept your opinion without you having to prove you know what you're talking about, but when you can prove you know what you're talking about that's even better. As others have said if you post on the forums a lot and people consistently agree with your opinions you will increase your ethos. If you have a symbol to show that you have experience you increase your ethos. Both ways are valid and encouraged.

Thanks to GrandMasterD for my sig!

And how, exactly, is this different from having the icon, which already separates Gold+ from the rest of us?
Still haven't seen a good answer to this question.
Other than that I agree with what Mowen said.

it would show up in more places since it's a fixture on your profile pic which shows up in more places than just the side of a comment pannel...other than that, nothing

why? if you say that elo is what matters then how you got it doesnt mater. from wat a friend told me some people just are lucky and get to 1500 easy and others who are better dont get out of 1300 or even other people who play with a real good friend who carries but they just support so even if their bad it wont make more difference becuz his friend is really good. whats the problem if i have a friend who puts me at 1500 right away?
if you want to give borders to skilled people then make a tournament or something and give it based on that.

because the borders shouldnt represent how much opinions matter?
well the borders are a symbol and thus must represent something, and the idea of having them represent a credential as meaningless as how many games they've played seems like a waste of time...
that just elitist AND discrimination.
no, it's not: using the system that the game uses to grade the skill of a player is not some kind of crazy notion. Rewarding players who have the skill and where-with-all to have a high elo is not a bad thing; that being said, if there is come kind of ridiculous issue with using that system, using borders as a tournament reward is a great idea.
everyones opinions matters just as much
That is simply not true, some people are just better at this game than other people, and their opinions on how to play the game should have more weight than others. The entire voting system on this site is structured around that idea, it's who's opinion the populous finds the most valuable.
