This is THE Zed guide I ran into when I was first playing Zed (after a rather repulsive first game).

You should keep this up to date sir, I find the lack of other good quality Zed guides disturbing.

The reason I think some people are maxing E before Q (which isn't really reliable anymore, as Riot shifted power from E to Q) is mainly the "certain" damage output it grants - on top of somewhat increased slow. In plain simple, while you need to be adjecent to your enemy for E to damage him, it's still not a skillshot that you need to hit someone with, unlike Q. Therefore you could call it an excuse of not being able to hit your Q.

+1 which I am late to give, but better late than never, I s'pose?

I love this guide, it's what helped me when I first started using Zed. Armor Pen; for me, seems to be the only runes that work on Zed. I've tried Attack Damage runes time and time again, and you just aren't a threat. You can't shred even the tankiest opponents without buying a Whisper (Which cost you 2300 Gold, which takes a couple minutes to get). The point of me commenting though is to show my respect to this build. I do not look at it anymore because when you main a champ you seem to always know whats best, but I want to show thanks. Thank you so much for guiding me in the right direction with this champ.

I've had an idea swimming around in my head in regards to this guide for a while now. Zed seems to be primarily all about the burst damage and his shuriken + shadow combo, right? So, my idea has been--for a while now--what if you switch out say, Guardian Angel or Mercurial Scimitar (depending on the situation) for another CDR item like Zeke's Herald. With the 10% from the Black Cleaver and the 20% you get from Zeke's, you're less than 5% away from getting the cooldown on Zed's shurikens UNDER 4s. Zed's shadows disappear after 4s, so having that cooldown underneath 4s would allow you to spam another pair of shurikens with only one shadow cast. Depending on what boots you'd want to use, you could either get the rest of the CDR with the Ionian Boots of Lucidity OR perhaps switch out a few runes to get that extra ~3%.

Any thoughts?

Hello i tried this build wihtout any masteries and runes on my lvl 15 account and i kinda sucked first game but my later games improved alot i could burst 2 ppl easily without any worry and i was kinda wondering if u could add a section that would tell on how and when to use the flash thing on Living Shadow i did this move and i tought it was fun what i did was Death Mark him and the Living Shadow came then i used Living Shadow in frnt if them and basic combo of Razor shurikins and Shadow Slash he almost got away but i teleport to the second Living Shadow killed him and teleport back to the Death Mark shadow it may look impossible but it is possible if u have enough cool down reduction and i changed the build and added a few CDR items well +1

Whilst this is a great guide and certainly deserves my upvote,I have 2 points to discuss.

-Normally 21/8/1 masteries are a lot more beneficial in comparison to 21/9/0 masteries, which may sound
weird but a 30 hp bonus isn't worth taking so many points in hp/lvl most of the time and 15 cd off
flash is a lot better.

-Why would you take Destruction over Butcher ?

Please note that these are 2 minor points in an overall great guide.

I prefer starting with the 1 long sword +2 heath pots. Then I grab brutalizer. Then I get boots, and grab a Vamp Scept to build into bt later, and for some sustain. I grab lifestone after, to start building into tbc. After tbc, I get a bt. That's how I prefer to build zed, as it gives nice sustain with the vamp scepter early, and then building tbc.

Really a great guide. So professional. The layout is perfect. I was taking Zed top lane till I looked at this and now I'm never leaving mid. In my opinion, he dominates in the mid. I used to main Talon in the mid but not anymore.

Interesting question by dubjack about the energy issues with Zed. I don't really have too much trouble with it but maybe that's because I'm used to his energy overuse.

What do you think about the, EXPENSIVE, Seals of Energy Regeneration? Everyone runs Armor Seals now a days, I know, but what about trying these out? To spam his abilities more would be nice, especially early game. You ,more than likely, will be facing an AP in the mid, so the question is are these seals viable? Let's keep the cost of them out of consideration. I've got plenty of IP. :)
