Hi, im kinda new here and i dont know if i posted at the right place but here i go

i have a dilema whether who to choose for my jungling/tank champ

i usually play amumu and malph as jungler but they often get banned so i choose to use skarner and maokai more often now. now im thinking when should i use maokai and when should i skarner

and which of the two suits my role as a jungle/tank champ, which one can provide more cc and which one is more tankier, if anyone could state a situation when i could use one champ instead of the other, that would be a great help.

thanks in advance!

it looks like you really like utility junglers, youll see the word "utility" more than "tank"

alistar is a good utility jungler and shen and sejuani, naut is a good utility jungler but hes sorta weak

you would want to use these junglers when your top lane and middle lane are good enough with damage

Vi, Hecarim and Xin zhao are strong right now. all equally Tanky, all equally have insane damage output and presence, and all useful early, mid and late. I think one thing about Mao, and Skarner is that they lack presence in comparison to most junglers, they are tanky, correct, they can deal a reasonable amount of damage. But they cant really pull a game late game, and they sort of become a bit useless, especially when they get hit hard early game.

- Shen is a terrible jungler now. I wouldn't advise him.
- Sejuani is decent, but again, in comparison to 4~5 junglers isn't really the best choice. Sejuani is also difficult to get back into a game where you're behind, and doesn't offer much in terms of late game, tanky but again useless
- Nocturne is terrible. (need I say more? :D)
- Alistar great presence, decent jungle clearence, but again...if falls behind, useless.. Late game hes ok for a CC freak, but he just lacks damage, and truthfully he cant carry that hard. Whenever most players see an Alistar its just "care for early ganks, late hes useless"
- Malphite again, similar reasons to shen... hes okay...but really...hes better top, his jungle sustain isn't the best, and clearence is harder now since patch a month ago. Uhh hes only useful when he hits 6 as well - by which time it could be too late. Late game hes "ok", but again lacks the damage in comparison to 4~5 junglers

Who are the 4~5 junglers?
- Amumu; great CC, great presence, awesome sustain, and jungle clearence. Really useful late, and mid, his early game is hard but if you gank successfully its all good from there.
- Vi; as stated
- Xin; as stated
- Hecarim; as stated
- Nunu; now, im going to go out on a leg here, but nunu can actually carry. Hes one of the best counter junglers, and he can get objectives done really quickly (drake, baron etc). His skillset is perfect for anyone, need attack speed/movement..."here you go", need some insane slow on low cooldown "here you go", need a Ultimate that can change the game into a Win..."here you go". His jungle clearence is awesome, presence is deadly early and mid. However he suffers late I think, he sort of becomes a support jungler, just there to protect carries, which hes really good at. I think in terms of late game presence and tankiness, he falls under the same as Malphite.

I dunno if this helps, uhh, and also if you have to decide skarner or mao, i believe maokai is better jungle. Skarner is 'ok' but mao just has better presence and ganks early game.

another jungler you could try, which still relatively works is Warwick, but he sort of trails off late, he still hard to kill and has a nice ultimate. but just isn't as good as the ones listed above.

I wouldn't say that's going out on a leg at all. Nunu's an incredible jungler with amazing team utility, hillariously high damage, and raw sticking power that makes him feared as an enemy jungler. His clear speed leaves much to be desired, but otherwise, he's an amazing choice.

Agreed. Skarner's alright, but Mao's just all around better "God tier" jungler. His speed is insane, his sustain is insane, and his ganks are almost always a guaranteed kill. Low cooldowns, awesome flying saplings... I'd take him over Skarner any day.

In most situations, Maokai will not only be tankier than Skarner, unless you're doing alternate builds (And even then...) but also be able to do more damage, with more CC. Mao just outclasses Skarner on everything you listed.

Anyway, I've recently picked up Taric jungle and he's surprisingly powerful, and has some incredible utility for the entire team as well, which may fit that role you seem to like. Nautilus is another solid choice for that, but, as mentioned, can feel a little weak.
