Not to be offensive or anything, but quite a few of the highly rated guides her on Mobafire aren't too good..
We have quite a few really good ones and the formatting of Mobafire is vastly superior to other websites. But some guides are voted way too high for what they actually have information wise.

Mundo goes where he pleases.
And pleases, where he goes.
^ This man speaks the truth, **** guides get upvoted because they were "published first" and good guides get downvoted by the owners of these **** guides to make their own guide have a higher rating in comparison. Meanwhile, admins do absolutely jack **** to troll voters because they get the "benefit of the doubt".
Hard for 2 downvotes to make a dent in an ocean of >500 upvotes, though. Can scout points go below zero?
Ppl tend to upvote way more than downvote. That is becouse if they dont like something they simply leave, and if if helps som1 with anything even in a small part, they tend to be gratefull and upvote it.
Beeing gratefull and accualy thinking a build/guide is good is 2 diferent things but atm we cannot separate those 2 too much.

Mobafires guide system like every open guide system has the flaw of being not based on facts but more on taste. Oh I liked that guide it looked pretty/worked that on time awesome +. I doubt anyone goes throught he hassle to play 5-10 games with a build and then rate it. Most try it and if it works it is good if they can't execute it ... well it sucks obviously right? Wrong. Understanding of the game mechanics and insight of the diffrent siuations that can happen are the main skills you need to be good at league. This goes hand in hand with knowing when to use or when not to use a certain build. Sadly most of the LoL community don't understand that and don't even try to improve that. But I am getting off-topic. Befor I start to flame people for emulating pro's lets warp this up.
It is great if you learn and understand by the mistakes of others. You show a decent insight of how stuff works and while it can be hard to understand what you did wrong in a piece of work seeing a diffrent work can help understand ones owns mistakes. I think thats what they are supposed to teach us in school or something.

I myself just opened a review shop.
Most of the guides are really great so far, but indeed, sometimes I find a guide which is okay, but definately not #1 worthy, yet they are #1 :O
And my own Ezreal guide is really funsies and stuff, really fun to do, but definately not the most viable thing to do in the world, yet it has 77% :D
I always said it was because of my amazing guide writing, but I know that is not the truth :P
It only was because I was amazingly fast with my S3 update, which people liked quite a lot, since I was one of the first.
It's fun that it has a high percentage, but I am not really sure it belongs there :P

Which people like me and Lagger seek to rectify.
Oh, really? I thought Lagger's hobby was just downvoting without giving much constructive criticism.
@Satella
The issue is that guides that are highly rated barely ever go down. Several ways of trying to address this have been discussed (such as vote decay), but as far as I know none have shown to really solve the issue.
