A good idea would be to have blogs reviewed by someone before releasing it, but I don't think anyone wants to/has the time for it. I like your idea tho.

That's also a terrible idea because blogs are typically for personal use. It would be annoying as hell for blog writers.

We don't have the resources at the moment to do a major rework of the blog system unfortunately, we're working on some high priority projects that, once released, I think you will agree were worth it :)

That said, if there are some simple things we can do in the mean time to make the blog system much more enjoyable for you guys, we're happy to do that.

The first one would be a character length threshold for the main blog listing. If your article falls below that threshold it is excluded from the main listing (but still shows up in your personal blog listing). Can everyone take a look at the main blog listing and pick out some articles you feel are too short? We can base the initial threshold on that.

The second one would be polishing up our feature system again. No one really used it so it fell into disrepair.

I think the ideal situation would be a three-tier system for all articles and authors. The default level would include the article/author in the main blog page. The level below that would remove the article/author from the main page, relegating them to only their own personal blog listing. The level above that would be the featured flag, listing the author in the sidebar and including their blogs when only the featured filter is checked.

We can then use the reporting system, as well as open discussion with Mowen and the mods, to promote/demote articles and authors as necessary.

I would also like to include the ability for authors to demote their own articles off the main listing, so that you can write potential rule-breaking articles without fear of punishment, because we don't care too much what you post on your personal blog.

So then we need a set of rules. What do you guys think the rules should be? That is, rules for what articles should be excluded from the main listing. My thoughts;

-Questions should go to Q&A, unless you are using it as a discussion for a longer post.
-Pimping your guide for views/votes is not allowed.
-Asking for help or reviews for your guide should go to the forums.
-Introductions should go to the forum, unless you are planning on being a serious blogger and are introducing your blog itself.
-Seeking team or team members.

And of course we have our general rules that apply here. No ads, no referral links, no personal attacks, no trolling, etc...

Sorry for the TLDR ;P

Thanks for the affirmative response; since the limit can be tweaked easily after implementation, I'd say start with an experimental limit of 140 characters. If it fits in a tweet, it's probably not main-page material. Most of the blogs that are useless tend to be only one sentence long, and this limit would be a decent cutoff to eliminate those.

At 140 characters, this article would still be included, for example;

wow 5k? I thought it was like 500 for some reason. XD

And uh, idk. That isn't really a blog unless you're telling the story behind the conversation. o.O

if you take the average to short 20-30% guide as limit(or close to the limit, doesnt really matter), this would be to much imo. i did not count, but i'm fairly sure that stuff like your recent abilities that do not fit the champoins lore blog(idk the real name, too lazy to look it up :D ) are about 75-60 percent of this. correct me if i'm wrong.

will you be streaming today btw? :D
edit: *forgot 2 or three times the ' in i'm :D
Thanks to IPodPulse for this <3^

Possibly, I've had food sickness the past few days thats why I havent been on. But anyway, back on topic.

I like the idea of applying to be a blogger. I know I'm not the only one that enjoys writing very large articles about interesting topics, kinda like the dudes over on RoG. Blogs should be an interesting read, and people posting their skype convos, or single sentence or asking questions should honestly stay out of blog form.
