I don't see placement matches as that much of a problem, actually.
The difference between winning and losing the majority of your placement matches isn't that huge anyway.
For someone who didn't play in S2 it is highly unlikely to be placed in Gold even if you won all 10 placement matches. (There might have been exceptions but I can't name any.)
It's most common that new ranked players end up high Bronze or low Silver and I don't think that it's a problem.
Getting out of Bronze really isn't that hard if you got what it takes to be in Silver (and I assum e that you do). It's a bit more frustrating playing Support solo in Bronze but even that's not impossible (just really really frustrating).

Actually, that would suck for anyone who isn't a pro. The reason people don't all start at the same Elo at the start of a new season is that it's completely ridiculous to put a previously bronze player vs a diamond player. The bronze will get stomped. If every player were at the same Elo, the bad players would get trampled on left right and center until all the pros had finished climbing out.
This ^ it would suck for diamond players to just stomp everyone on their way back up.
And yeah, placement games count a RIDICULOUS amount compared to any other games you will ever play. It's kind of stupid tbh...
Wow Vap, you run into a lot stupider people then I run into (atleast from what I read that you typed... in the so few matches you've played).. and why does

And that combined CS on the enemy team is very saddening... x_x
It's funny when you get stupid people though... I had a team go all bruisers and

Thanks to YayaFTW for the sig.
I killed her once while she was level 1, like, I decided to attack her while I had 2 axes up, and literally 4 seconds later she was dead with her flash down too. Next time she came back I got her with 2 axes which had her down to 40% HP, and that was the last time I remember seeing her. Maybe she ragequit, maybe she had to do something else, maybe she just couldn't be bothered to deal with me. Dunno.
It sounds like I run into stupider people because I've remembered every single stupid thing I see and pointed it out, because it's stuff you wouldn't see in a million years in my Elo ( I hope ).
I don't blame their Quinn for having no CS 'cuz I was zoning her all day, but yeah, Diana and Darius really had no excuse. >:[

Let's compare Luther and myself here, both low gold last season:
Wayne3100: 6-4 --> Silver I
Luther3000: 8-2 --> Gold IV
That's two divisions for winning two more games. I think that's a pretty big difference, honestly.

It's like a 4 win difference. He won 50, you lost 50, he won 50, you lost 50. Difference is 200 Elo if you both gained and lost 50 Elo for each game.
But yeah, it's actually pretty stupid how much points they put into those 10 games. The amount should be decreased to 35 or something for each game and extended to 15 / 20 games.
I know what you're trying to say, but if two of my losses were wins I'd be 8-2, ya know :P
I think only people who are actually new should play placements, the others should be able to climb back to where they were before any soft resets without having to worry about some early losses.

The placement matches function so stupid like really. If you really want them, make them 50 matches instead of 10, that way an individual match is not that important anymore.

Major brainfart on my part there. That's the process which has been happening over the last two seasons. I need to remember that ranked existed before I was interested in it >_<
Maybe just scrap placement matches and dump new people in at bronze 5. That's probably what I meant to say in the first place.
