Hey y'all - my laptop regularly overheats when I'm playing LoL, and I'm sick of it. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I'm not really looking to buy a new one, and I have it cleaned regularly.

Any help is welcome because it really sucks ._.

You sure your fans don't need replacing? Do you have something underneath your laptop, like a cooling base (note that I don't have one myself, so you should probably check some reviews on how well those actually work)?

Check your fan speeds, motherboard and CPU heat, RAM and CPU usage and post it here.
I have a monitor tool that came with my motherboard so never really searched for one but there are plenty around.

EDIT: Razor Game Booster displays MB, CPU, GPU, HDD temperature and fan speeds

Feel free to +rep me if i helped any way!

Well, the most obvious solution would be to get a real PC, not a flimsy portable one :P
Because those have like double the performance per cost and never have any cooling or battery problems.

As for solving the problem, try blowing compressed air into the intake (and angle it towards the exhaust), while putting something in the fan so that it doesn't spin.
That should remove any eventual dust or **** blocking your fan.

Another procedure would be to buy some good cooling-paste and dismantling your PC to put some between your cooler and your CPU/GPU.
Not all laptops are easy to open up though and the coolers don't even have cooling paste some of the time, sometimes they use cooling-cushions(soft, thicker material) instead, and those are not quite as effective and you can't replace them with paste.

Don't mention garbage here..

"Ultimately, if people lose their willingness to recognize that there are times in our history when legality becomes distinct from morality, we aren't just ceding control of our rights to government, but our futures." - Edward Snowden

Koksi/Wayne: I already use a standard, and that helps really well. It isn't a cooling base but it makes sure there's more space for the warm air to leave. I suppose I could carry that with me to school, but that also requires me to bring a keyboard. Everything together it becomes kinda heavy, and I doubt they will even fit in my bag.

Searz: Well I need a laptop for school, and it'd be useful to also use it for gaming (saves some money :P)

I don't have a compressor, my uncle has one but he lives quite far away so I can't go there when I please.

Not intending to advertise... just the 1st thing that came to my mind with heat/fanspeed display. Anyway it's only like 1/4 garbage :P Shuts down unnecessary stuff for nabs who can't do that without a tool.
But yea i despise their products too. Wonder when they create a mouse with standard 101 key layout...

What are your specs? Not the most geeky solution, but perhaps you could tune down the LoL settings a bit.

Do you mean by overheating that the system literally shuts itself down, or does it just get extremely hot and slows down a lot?

Well 60ish is okay for a laptop with higher CPU usage, you shouldn't worry until you go over 70 with the comp in idle state.
