This is a just right buff for Renekton and a much needed one as well. If you think Renekton is OP, even before the patch, then you're clearly not playing with good teammates.

Yeah, I've been playing and building him like a fusion of Garen/Tryn. Start with some defensive items and build into some AD. CDR boots are pretty much a must if you don't grab Merc Treads. I see a lot of people playing him wrong though....

He wasn't Op before and isn't Op now. His scaling was horrible before. He is now fit to be a viable choice to a team, matching other dps heroes. He does have a very good early game and is able to pick up kills very easily. If you feed him like any good dps champion you will face the consequences. He is most similar to Xin Zhao, he will rape you in the lane if you let him do any combos without punishment.
As for item builds, I think he is a counter builder. As in he builds resistance first follow by damage items. He has a lot of damage without items.
