I don't see the point. It just delays your AP and mana regen. You could maybe start with one to bully a weak laner or something, but I think rushing chalice or tear would be a lot more useful than doubling up on blades.
She also doesn't get as much from it as Kennen who has AD scaling on his W.

I think that's just AD mid Orianna.
ADC Orianna (like, if you're trying to play her as if she was a normal ADC in bot lane with a support) has 525 range, which is a bit shorter than most adcs. She also has no escapes, no AD scalings and her CC is fairly lackluster without accompanying burst damage. Basically there isn't a great reason to play her as an ADC. She'll get outscaled pretty hard in team fights because her range and kit doesn't suit an ADC and I doubt her laning phase would be particularly strong. To put it in perspective, you could play a real ADC without an escape like Varus, deal a lot more damage with AD items and you have a stronger CC on your ultimate.
Any ranged champion can use autoattacks to harass in early laning phase and they can always throw some autos in between spells or when they're waiting for them to come off cooldown. Just build Orianna as an AP carry and you can use her passive effectively. Just because it buffs her autoattacks doesn't mean she would work well as an ADC.

Actually Orianna's escape mechanism is much better than Varus's if you are talking about his ult or e. Orianna can simply protect herself and dissonance, speeding her and slowing enemies behind her(Varus' slow only slowing 5% more than Orianna's)
i play
Orianna hybrid (as/ap) quite frequently at mid lane and its quite good
Sorcerer's Shoes,
Nashor's Tooth,
Rabadon's Deathcap,
Wit's End,
Trinity Force,
Guinsoo's Rageblade is a fine hybrid build to me...AP/AS runes and 21/0/9 masteries
most of the times works well for me....btw i start with a
Doran's Blade!

I recently played
Orianna AP/AS... holy ****. Damages!
Her AA's are strong already, but when you add
Nashor's Tooth+
Wit's End+
Lich Bane **** gets ridiculous. A full combo, making use of my spellblade, was an easy triple kill.
Playing her AP/CDR is very effective and a default for her, but going AS is surprisingly good and honestly a lot more fun.
