Hello my fellow crafters. We all know that I make some unique guides, and more will come. But I want to pick the brains of my fellow players.

I want your opinions on the idea of taking champs out of their normal role, and putting them in another. I mean we all have those builds that we made just to have fun, but found it worked.

I dont want to know if untradtional builds are viable, I want to know what you think of role swapping. And what champs you have played that was outside the 'norm'. And why.

Technically, most champions were placed in a role because that's how Riot meant for them to be played, and their skills are generally tailored behind that style. However, playing champions in unorthodox ways could prove to be more effective than the way they were "meant" to be built - like offtank Swain vs. AP.

Long story short, untraditional builds can be viable, but sometimes are not as effective as the traditional method. Odds are, if you see a champion being built a certain way a lot, it probably works.

Waht about those champions that are meant to be something, but can be something else... with the right amount of crafting and weeks to months of R&D. I mean Ive come across some builds that are so out of left field. I mean its insane.

One such build is Tankennen and Vamp Eve. Those are indeed very unorthodox, but they are extremely effective. With the right team, more so than their traditional builds. AP Trydamere for one. There is even a Tank/AP/AS Taric on this site. I mean all these different ideas, but they are met with conflict at some point.

I mean I get 'If it aint broke dont fix it'. But sometimes things need to be stirred up, adn when someone does, its almost like a linch mob is after them.

Yes, understandable. A lot of people condemn unorthodox builds, but there are definitely both pros and cons of running one. Basically, if you can get it to work, why wouldn't you run it? XD

When it comes to unorthodox builds, I'm pretty okay about it as long as they don't fail with it. >.>

Not contribute as much to their team as they could have were they playing a different build, I suppose.

AP Ashe, for example, may be able to get one or two early-game snipes but would be next to useless in a team fight and wouldn't contribute as much as AD Ashe except in the rarest of scenarios. On the other hand, Tankennen can potentially wreak just as much havoc as AP or AD/AS Kennen can.

Tankeon would be a good example. His ultimate is a good initiating tool, and his stun is decent CC.
However, just taking tank items doesn't make you a tank...
I mean, eve with tank gear? :L
