In the next patch,
Banshee's Veil will no longer have mana anway. The problem is, where you get all that farm?

the build is okay but simply outclassed lol.
there are a lot of great waveclearing toplaners that scale better
greez sam

Can we really say that one champ is better than another ? I mean, Taric will be weak against some champs, and awesome against others. Like every champ :p
I just wanted to share my idea of Mana Taric as toplaner, give you the idea if you never thought about it, and if you can test it, it would be awesome :p

Not viable. Fun though, especially in pinks.
His passive sucks, but you should get some mana anyway. Don't focus on it.
Just be a bruiser. I had some success building
Iceborn Gauntlet,
Wit's End,
Sunfire Aegis and more tanky stuff. I don't recall what other damage item I had on him, I think it was just a
Zephyr for the tenacity (because tabi) and bonus AS... it's been a while lol
Should be a bit better since
Wit's End got some buffs.
IMO
Tear of the Goddess isn't so hot on him, takes a long time to charge and that's gold that could be spent on armor to help your team with your aura.
As a top laner you'll make every melee matchup a straight up farm lane. You won't have the power to kill anyone anytime soon and
Shatter helpes keep trades in check. A good bruiser can take advantage of your mistimed
Shatter active, but all in all you are very hard to kill and have a hard time killing anyone. You do however make the junglers job a whole lot easier. Stun+armor shred is death or flash burnt and lane pushed.
That being said, ranged harrass is very hard to avoid if you want to CS. You'll basically stun the **** out of people just to be able to get those creeps.

The thing is that the gold of the Manamune isn't wasted. For any other champ, Manamune is weak in early game, and is useful only when stacked. But Taric's passive makes Manamune 2* more interesting. His passive is really really interesting, but underestimated. With Muramana, Iceborn Gauntlet and Banshee, I have 3000 mana : auto-attacks deal +120 dmg, just with passive. Really doesn't suck at all.
Yep, ranged harass is a nightmare, and to farm, you'll have to stun the opponent, and then W the minions. That's why you'll need much mana, so Tear of the Goddess will be perfect.
I think about a build like : Mercury, Muramana, Trinity, Frozen Heart, Banshee and Wit's End.
I agree about the fact of building like a bruiser, but taking as much Mana as possible will make Taric's passive really impressive. You should not underestimate it. This build gives AD, AS, and a good tankiness. And tons of Mana.
Such thing : http://beta.lol.fanrealm.net/kSjAEdZL15PBIJaPofIv/overview
With this build, check the passive : "Passive: Taric's basic attacks deal 67 bonus magic damage; this bonus damage is doubled against champions."
+134 damage per AA against champions. This doesn't suck, at all. This is awesome.

My beef with building off of a
Tear of the Goddess is with how long it takes to get it stacked, not that its bad on
Taric.
And I still don't think 134 magic damage per AA to be that significant. Against 50 MR, that's 89.33 damage, and you don't have any magic pen. At the 1.2 AS you have, that's ...
As I was numbercrunching I realized in 10 seconds you did an extra 744.42 damage to a 50 MR target. That's... decent.
Gonna test this further.
