I just had a discussion with Yuki about this, so I thought I'd revive the topic.
People really need to stop making excuses for old art.
All art should be considered by the same standards. If old art is bad, then don't excuse it. Tell it like it is.. Anything else is just biased and unfair.

Old is not an adjective that in any way describes the worth of something.
Old is solely a description of the age of something.
To assign value to a word that doesn't in any way indicate actual value is just dumb.

Boy I need to go to work now but old as in 'Graphic's in the realm of possibility at the date of the making of the anime without wasting to much time and money.'
And rather than 'old' I would prefer the word 'Date' or 'Time' or something because old is not objective enough(For example I consider games that are 2 years old as 'old').
I don't say it is an 'excuse' for every art to be bad but you need to keep in your mind the date of creation BECAUSE OF TECHNOLOGY.
COMPARED to the art of today every 'older' Anime has either bad or unique(which is just an excuse in my eyes) art.

I've only read the manga (and it's good/great), but I can see how there might be thematic problems when several chapters are restructured to fit one episode. and???? thats like me saying (which i do) that people that listen to dubstep have no taste in music because I find it utter garbage. Also you say that based on 1 anime I watch, and I haven't read the manga yet, please come back and judge me when you have more basis or if you do please include it before you post, you can't judge someone's taste from 1 thing they enjoy.
