I might be wrong but everything works until upper plat. In Bronze you can play even crazier stuff than you would in soloQ and win. Silver = soloQ. Gold = soloQ but you have to play your stuff well.
In upper plat some things may not work but according to a friend of mine many plats are bad. I dunno about diamond or challenger because I don't know anyone from up there and have a snowballs chance in hell of climbing there myself.
Oh and, IMHO, rankeds are more relaxed than soloQ. At least in the former people tend to assume good faith in you more.

If that works for you, and even though I doubt it will, then I suggest you keep at it.

The post is dated but the fundamentals remain true to how the game works in solo queue. I suggest you give it a read.
