Where do you think "high elo" stands?

I'm not so sure it's a skill gap between Bronze - Gold as much as it is a decision-making gap. I think there is some truth that Bronze players are just mechanically worse than Platinum players, but I think the main thing that holds people back in Bronze and Silver, sometimes even Gold is they have really poor decision making and don't really understand the game.
I've read that a lot of people are saying Plat and Diamond aren't as elite as they used to be, and that's probably true. But we should remember that as the game grows so do the number of people in each bracket. The brackets are technically supposed to be representative of a percentage of the League population (for example Gold is supposed to be top 10% of something like that). So it's probably still somewhat representative of that percentage even if the overall skill has gone down, they still among the elite percentage whatever it may be
Nah, bronze players are definitely way more unskilled than gold players. When I smurfed in mid bronze, it was standard for an ADC to stand still auto-attacking a bruiser that was walking right towards them, rather than kiting.

Yeah, this is still common even in Silver. But there are Bronze and Silver players who have decent mechanics paired with poor decision-making, or just bad map awareness. They tend to be found in the higher tiers of each division, since it's a battle between people who have awful mechanics and awful decision-making and people who have bad decision-making and decent mechanics.

It is also really hard to find a decent adc in silver, imo. Most silvers want solo lanes or jungle. If you see a support main it is probably because they are used to. Also people pick by what they feel like playing, not necessarily because it is an overall good pick or because they have an in-and-out knowledge of that pick.

I pick what I feel like all the time. However, the champs I like playing are also the ones I'm best at.

See, ha, that's another difference between high ELO and Silver/Bronze.
See, the champions you're best at are the ones you enjoy, so you've played them a lot and gotten good at them. Plus, your overall knowledge of the game is good enough that you can at least function on pretty much any champion.
In Silver and Bronze, most players treat the game as if it were normals. They pick whatever they want, whether or not they have experience with it. Even those champions that they consider "their best" are probably just the ones that they have a couple more games on, and don't necessarily particularly do well with. Their champion pools are limited, and they have very little experience with the various roles.
Like I mentioned in my ranked thread, I ran into a guy recently who called jungle in champion select. However, as it turned out, he literally only knew how to play one jungler, and they were banned. This is not at all an uncommon occurrence.
Champions you want to play are champions you enjoy and have some actual experience with. Champions people in Silver and Bronze want to play are the ones they just bought and have four total games with, all of them losses.

I disagree with that. I am a silver III player myself and I never play a champion in ranked of which I have no experience. The problem is that, as you told aswell, most people are "skilled" only with a few selection of champions, simply because they have just around 600 games, there is no way to have 50+ games experience with more than just a few champs. And if these few champs are banned, there are often not more than one or two choices left which could be countered, so they just take anything that is listed as a top counter on google without ever having played it.
As for me, I recently made really good experiences by not telling others which champion counters which one, but just tell them to take what they are good at, no matter how bad the matchup might seem (

By the way, if anyone knows about it I would love to understand the LP system. When I was promoted from Bronze I to Silver, I just got like 5 LP per victory and lost 10 per loss, which made it damn annoying. When I was promoted from Silver V, I suddenly skipped Silver IV division and landed in Silver III, where I get 24 LP per victory and loose 14 LP per loss - What weird kind of a system is that and why isn't it linear? I'm just getting confused...

Obviously I was being a little hyperbolic there. :P There are players, like yourself, who do actually care about knowing what they're doing, and play champions they know how to use. But in my experience, the vast majority of Bronze and Silver players do just play whatever they feel like, experienced or not.

It's decided by a concealed value called MMR, which is basically ELO from last season. If your MMR is higher than the division you're currently in, you get more LP and lose less when you fail. If your MMR is lower than where you are, you get less and lose more.

The hell people in silver try hard the last time i checked. they just take it way too seriously and have a elo hell mind-set along with poor decision making.
I agree on your other points that low elo people generally are inexperienced and the limited champion pool.
Thhey also ban

i need to delete this account
Wow are those STILL the bans in bronze?! Nothing about any of those champions except Thresh are OP. Most high elo players got there by sticking to one role and maining 1-2 champions in said role. Someone who is playing Ahri for the 500th time is going to do better than someone playing her for the first time.

If you really thnk about it the system can be compared to a school's grading system.
A = good
B = average
C = below average
D = near-fail
F = fail
