Was a bit taken back by the changes to it at first but I can confirm, 
Trinity Force puts Jax, Irelia, Corki, Ezreal and all other users back in the spotlight. As a Jax main I can say it's definitely become a rush item again, even before Blade of the Ruined King.

gunblade's better than botrk on jax if you're in front, and if you aren't you shouldn't be building botrk second item anyways.

If you're ahead you want to bully, an almost spamable slow-active which also significantly increases your burst will help you bully and as a fed jax you'll be able to get 2 passives of in midgame teamfights.

Tiamat/ Ravenous Hydra way more fun. But, yes, Blade of the Ruined King works better and gives pretty much what they need in lane.
