Greetings!

For season 4 ranked, I'm planning on limiting my champion pool for ranked as much as possible for every role. In addition to this, I believe it would be a good idea to try and pick one champ in my main role (top) as much as I can. This is a strategy that many people have used in the past and one which I believe will ultimately make it easier for me to climb.

Deciding who that one champion will be, however, is the tricky part. Currently, I'm mainly thinking of Renekton or Elise.

In season 3, the top lane champions I played most in ranked (note that this includes team ranked games) were Zac (22 games, 17-5), Kennen (21 games, 8-13) and Renekton (20 games, 10-10), however my Kennen has been very inconsistent lately and my record in solo queue is the main reason why my overall record is so horrible on him, so I'm not too confident about playing him atm. As for Zac, I think he's still decent/good and I love playing him, but the most recent change to his passive really rustles my jimmies and makes it way harder to lane against enemies who play well and step on your health chunks before you can pick them up (especially if they're ranged).

Anyway, before I get lost talking about too many details, I was wondering what people think is the most important aspect that one should look at when picking a champ they want to main and spam in ranked. Viability only? Liking the champ more than others because otherwise you won't enjoy spamming the champ so much? Personal results? Something I've completely missed in the poll options, maybe?

Lemme know! :)

If you just wanna win and get high tiers, I would say something you can both play well, and something that is at least tier-2 viable.

Skill on a champion requires experience, while experience does not guarantee skill. Keep that in mind and find something that fits you well (otherwise you'll never get skilled at the champ) and learn that champion well.

honestly stats don't really matter here

if you really want to main one specific champion it needs to be the champion you enjoy playing the most, regardless of your past performance on it, because that would probably be the only champion you can still stand playing after hundreds of games. If you play it enough and get familiar enough with all its ups and downs, stuff like ranked stats and viabilty don't really matter as much.

People say experience on the champion is important, but I don't think it's as important as people think. I consider myself a very experienced bruiser nidalee player, but I think she's really terrible atm, I actually found more success with Vladimir and Renekton recently just because they're stronger picks, not because I'm better at them

How about keeping options to fit what your team plays like, rather than throw what you are good at to the garbage?

Well I really enjoy playing Annie mid lane, but was met with mixed results in ranked, and then switched to Akali which ended up with a 2-1 win ratio for a while, despite my inexperience with the champion.

Ezreal is my favorite champion probably, but I have the worst winrate on him 33%, even with a 7-4-6 KDA.

I'm really not sure myself.

I think that you should pick a champ first whih you like and which suits your generall playstyle. The experience is important and will follow short after if you are really enjoying the champ.
