Greetings and Salutations everyone,

I was thinking that with the upcoming season being about the supports and started to wonder who can be classed as a 'support'.

Well officially the support is split into three groups - Healer, Protection and Restriction supports

Healer are mainly Soraka and Sona
Protection are the likes of Lux and Karma
Whilst restriction is Zyra (immobilse) and Lulu (unable to attack)

Now alot of the main supports have 2 of these three objectives but it only takes one in order to be played as a support champiob which then begs the question who could be a support? Well let's have a look at some unique examples.

Jinx - The newest ADC could in theory be usef as a support due to both flame chompers and Zap! Both being restrictive on the opponent (slow and stun)

Ziggs - Makes for a interesting support due tp his minefield causing slow and his abilities if pkayed right can keep opponents back allowing ADC like Nidalee and Varus to do more damage.

Cho gath - The beast could be a good support too

What do you guys think? The list is endless when you think about it

You can play anyone as a support already. Even if they have no CC, they have burst potential which spikes at Lv3, which might let you get a kill.

And the triumvirate of supports is Kill, Sustain, and Poke. Except most sustain supports are also poke supports (exception being Taric, who is a sustain-kill).

You can play anything everywhere, but the question is: Who can do it the most efficiently ?

The list of viable supports is definitely not endless. Some champions with heavy cc or utility might see some extra play as a support, but champions like Jinx and Ziggs never will.

Support is "officially" split into three groups, yes, but those groups are:

1. Sustain (Soraka)
2. Poke (Sona, Nami, Zyra, Lulu)
3. Burst (Blitz, Leona)

While this discussion is fairly irrelevant as there will be no "support" role in season 4, what makes a support is not just CC or a heal (though those are some factors). Supports need to be able to provide protection (including peel and warding, sustain for some) and be able to secure kills. If you feel Darius or Draven or Katarina provide that then, sure, anyone can be support.

Tbh I feel like the champions played as 'marksman aid' will still be supportive champions. ADC's will still need peel, CC and other utility so the whole 'support' meta won't change much, except for the items. Supports still won't be able to get super expensive items like a Rabadon's Deathcap on a regular basis which means that champions with a high gold/item threshold won't be played as a support.

These ideas, suggestions, discussions start to piss me off really.
Because supports can afford a little more items, suddenly everyone is support ?

The current S3 meta supports will stay as "core/meta" supports. I can see few
power spikes for Annie supports for example, but heck with the idea of
anyone being support.

It's the overall kit that matters. If you have 1 CC ability, that doesn't mean
that you can go support and be viable or useful. Usually these new support
champions and experiments cause lane to fail.

They are already good, Bludes. We're talking about off-meta (currently) supports like Darius or hell, Swain.

The former is a possibility as his gold requirement to function is exceedingly low for a bruiser of his caliber.

@Joxuu, calm down bro, let everyone have a chance to try new stuff out and talk about it before shutting it down before it even happens. ^^
