"I think so you are"

I finally took the time to finish Ergo Proxy. Around ep. 10 it suddenly gets interesting, that was a big surprise to me honestly. It gave and still gives me some headaches and my mind is definitely blown, really nice. Sartre would've probably been happy if he could watch this series.

Does anyone have the power to reduce pressure on my fontanels?
Spoiler: Click to view

Anyways, slow start but the last 10 eps were great in my opinion. I think the end was a bit rushed though.

So I just started watching Log Horizon and almost got to the most recent episode.
I noticed alot of SOA vs Log Horizon flames in the comment section of the page I am watching animes on.

And honestly, I for myself, did not like SOA at all. To be blunt, SOA was the ****iest **** I have ever watched. Every episode was cringeworthy and unncessary, especially the overused romace theme. To top that it had zero depth and did not really use the ''game world'' aspect.
I literally watched every episode while laughing on skype how bad it was, and I am serious here lol.

Now I am NOT here to say Log Horizon is THE BEST ANIME IN THE WOLRD!! (because for me the best anime are the Monogatari series), but Log Horizon is definitely better than SOA.
It uses the aspect of the game world, and has alot of depth. Especially the economy part is explained and used super good regarding MMORPGs. The action is great, but it kinda lacks an actual plot, yet. Log Horizon is fairly new, so the plot can still be build.

But as I am at it, tell me your opinions on SOA / Log Horizon, and plis dun hate me for hating such a ****ty anime as SOA (lol I am literally asking for it xD)

I'm really, really enjoying Log Horizon. Straight up my #1 anime of this season, no contest.

A large part of what makes Log Horizon really interesting is that it takes the whole stuck-in-a-MMO concept and actually explores a whole bunch of stuff that .//hack and SAO ended up ignoring, such as actually dealing with the MMO mechanics themselves. And politics. I ****ing love anime that deal with politics. (See: My love of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, in spite of that anime not actually being particularly good.)

SAO's biggest issue is that it took a really solid and interesting concept--being stuck inside of an MMO--and reduced it to a very typical let's-beat-the-bad-guy-or-quest-or-whatever anime with some romance, kinda' like pretty much every other shonen. And while it was a decently good shonen, all things considered (SAO takes waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more flak than it deserves, guys), it really let down the potential strength of its concept. I figure all the SAO hate is just a reaction to the ridiculous amount of hype it got, but I think the hate is even more overblown.

I mean... It's also kinda' a meh season for anime, IMO. I'm really only keeping up with Log Horizon, Gingitsune, and Non Non Biyori. For one reason or another I've managed to drop basically everything else. Not necessarily because they're all bad, but... Most of the anime I dropped this season were pretty bad. Notable exeptions: Kyoukai no Kanata and Kyousougiga. Those are both good, they just aren't exciting me any more.

Log Horizon is also kinda' slow. Like, in a bad way, not in the good way that Mushishi is. I'm really not sure how I feel about its overall quality yet, either. Log Horizon has some real issues, between art style (it's fairly clearly on the lower budget end) and some problems in the plot development. It's gonna' be 25 episodes (PRAISE THE LAWD JEEBUS FOR MOAR ANIMUS), so I'm gonna' hafta' wait until around episode 20 to really have a sense of whether or not it's worth the time.

Yeah thats what I meant it has no real plot yet, and the politics/economy just like in Mahou Yuusha and Spice and Wolf (tho I only read the Manga of the former) is great.

The SOA hate is indeed due to the massive hype. But I srsly have no idea how it could become that popular.

Yeah I enjoyed Paprika aswell, tho Inception had a better atmosphere, Paprika had the overall better storyline. At least imo.

There was also a real Paprika movie planned, not sure how it is doing
