"We've had a few gloomy years with bad console ports, and what do we get in the light at the end of the console-tunnel? A tablet OS ported to PC." - Atlas Tasume, on Windows 8
Over Christmas, I got Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22, and they now have a place within my top ten favorite films. Loved everything about the show (except the last five minutes of the series), and the films do a spectacular job of making the premise and story feel new and exciting. Also helps that 2.22 is legitimately horrifying in some parts.

I've started watching Log Horizon and wow its a lot better than I expected. It's definitely worth checking out. Its kind of like SAO style but not exactly.
Yeah, I'm still really into Log Horizon. I wouldn't say it's at all SAO-style. Artistically it's got a lot more in common with Maoyuu Mao Yuusha: Both have very low art budgets. Thematically it's got a bit in common with (early) Maoyuu Mao Yuusha with its political focus. The only thing linking it with SAO is the basic concept of people stuck in an MMO.
It isn't without its problems, though. Like I already mentioned, the art budget is very low. This does lead to some interesting stylistic choices, but other times it just doesn't look very good. Since the focus isn't on impressive visuals, though, this isn't a major problem. What is more major is that the series is very slow. It just takes a long time for things to happen. And I don't mean in that kinda' relaxing Mushishi/Natsume Yuujinchou/Hyouka-esque way, either. It's just slow. I still highly recommend it for being the only anime, to my knowledge, that actually cares to deal with any substantive issues regarding the stuck-in-an-MMO concept (and having immediately likable characters to boot).
I'd do a write-up of anime that I'm watching this season, but... There's not all that much that I'm particularly enjoying except holdovers from last season, longer running series, and a few series that pander to my particular tastes but are very decidedly bad. My only real stand-out is Witch Craft Works, and even then only because I expected it to suck and it so far... hasn't. Of course, it hasn't been very good, either. Other than that, I can only say that if it looks like you'll like it, it might be worth giving it a shot. I'd be happy to give my opinions on any of the series I'm watching (or have watched the first few episodes of).
