I usually kill myself to take out 1-2 members of the enemy team. Hopefully 2 to tip the odds in my favor.

Basically how I play LoL

This.

Even if you start doing well in normals which means carrying with 15 or 20+ kills per game you will get dragged down by trolls and flamers eventually FOR SURE.

We're all human and noone can stay the same after being exposed to pointless flaming and childish behaviour.

Try to start playing ranked and treat it like it was a normal game. Also don't get too emotional in ranked. If you feel like you're not ready for that - quit or play very casually until you are.
I don't play LoL anymore.

So I played a game keeping all of you guys help in mind and I am very happy. I focused completely on CSing without dying to my opponent. My CS was a bit rubbish but so much better than before. I'm hoping that simply doing this every game keeping to ranked play will help me out in becoming a better player :) Thank you all for being kind and giving me good criticism to work with.

Rubbish is as rubbish does. It's an improvement. Keep at it. You are on the right track. If you keep your focus on CSing and not dying you will improve. Never mind the technical aspect like positioning and all that for now. Those will come as you master these two basic mechanics. Everything is built around CSing and Not dying in this game.

PS: after Bloodthirster try an attack speed item like Phantom Dancer or Static Shiv. Otherwise the enemy AD carry will out DPS you if he does and you don't. Armor pen from Last Whisper doesn't help a lot until you reach the mid and late game when the tanks are stacked. Also WTF Fairy charms?

PSS: after playing 50 games look back on this game.

Yeah don't expect immediate 10 cs per minute or something just because you focused on it. You'll keep getting better as time goes by.

This is wrong on Varus if you're playing him as an ad caster, staying in back poking with your abilities and not auto attacking much. Varus is viable for this and viable for both builds.

fun fact: Soraka's name means unstoppable! (he's also a dude since it was in the male form)

:3!

On topic; I think, as it has been mentioned, you're dying way too much. I've had that issue not too long ago when I switched from playing tankier champions to very squishy ones. Thresh, Leona > Lulu, Annie. I'd just exceed 5-6 deaths every game and it made me so sad. Well this is where the whole knowing how much damage your champion can take comes in. It's actually really important to get acquainted with a champion before playing ranked and even though this is common sense I still see so many Annie players for example, plat-diamond level, going in melee range of me as Thresh to get an auto on me (without even charging the stun in base first) then getting 2 autos into a flay into ignite and dying or burning off so much HP they're forced to back or they just lose all pressure. Then there's also knowing how much damage you dish out, map awareness and warding you could work on if you haven't yet (enough).

@Wayne, I agree. I get set up against plats and diamonds in normals and only golds and plats in ranked anyway. Recent games I've had at least one diamond 1 on either team. Even though they're probably not really tryharding or anything.

Getting a little tired of these kind of posts. I play normals almost exclusively because I have pretty bad ranked anxiety (and I don't like playing alone anyway), does that mean I can't improve my mechanics, learn new champions, learn things about matchups? Why do people have this idea that no one in normals plays to win and tries his/her best?

@OP

Most of what I would tell you has already been said, but yeah, I would definitely encourage anyone to work on farming. It is a vital mechanic in this game, yet also one that is so easy to work on because you have to do it pretty much all the time (unless you're jungle/support ofc) :P

Good luck! :)

Because most of them don't. Give me one good reason to tryhard in a normal when in 90% of the games I can easily win with 1/10th of the effort?
In normals I randomly dive in the enemy team, I position stupidly, I make ridiculously risky plays that I would never dream of making in ranked (that would usually fail), I get thirsty for kills and forget to cs and it's not just me, it's everyone I play with. Ranked is much, much more competitive and you actually get people trying their hardest most of the time.

Basically, in normals people usually play just to have fun. It's different when people play so that they can climb the ladder. They want to win then.
