Hello guys, I'm really new to this game, just played for 2 weeks and now I'm level 20.

Like other new players (maybe you guys too), I once think that the main thing of gaming is your "score".

With champions like "Katarina","Caitlyn","Jin'X" against a new players, I almost get a good score in nearly every game (If a good score mean a lot of kill point).

I ever score 26-2-16 with Karatina against "non-hard cc" team.
It was felt like I'm good with what I'm doing, until recently that I found it is completely wrong.

Last night I played "Twisted Fate" with a good opponent.
I score a terribly bad 0/18/8 and my team mate is really get mad on me because all of them have done a good job (except me).

That make me realize that, maybe I'm not as good as I think I am.

It really be the same... every game I win, every game I lose.
I have done a f**king same things again and again, a same strategy, nearly same build, same technique.

I found that I only win because the other team is bad (no offense, I'm not a good player too).

A game with only a couple of wards, very slow objective progress, in some games we didn't go jungle, no Dragon or Baron but we win???

I feel like I was stuck in a same place, I really want to kick my *** of this point and change to be something better than I am.

The high score is not important when my Win/Lose rate are exactly the same.

I also play awfully bad when it comes to a tank, bruiser or spell caster like (Nasus, Fiddlestick, Malphite).

In this point someone will say that "Oh! don't worry, there are many people out there that is exactly as same as you!".

But I don't want to be like that.

I really come here for an advice.

Many people I play with is hungry for a score, all they care about is killing champions.

And forget about the main idea of this game that we can only win this game by destroy enemy nexus, and to do that we need a lot more than just kill someone.

The different between me and better player out there is "they see what I cannot".

They can see opportunity, advantage, how to do things.

I want to be like that too!

People are gonna be kill hungry for a looooong time. I'm in Silver and half the time people are just going for kills. That, or they think that baron solves everything.

Also, I think the "New Player Help" section of the forum is pretty useful.

Anyway, here's the thing. You play carries, and two of the three you listed are some of the best carriers in the game(kat and jinx). Focus on playing those carries. If they work for you, keep playing them, and get better with them. Having a good KDA is good, whether you win or lose. It means you've done well, and that's fine. Getting the KDA and winning is even better. Focus on the objectives, always remember the point of the game is to kill the nexus, not get ten trillion kills. I don't care if I don't have any kills if it means we win. I'd rather have 0 kills and win than 20 kills and lose(that's a lie, I'm pretty happy either way :3).

A little trick that I use: Every time I speak to a friend about me playing league, I always call myself bad and say that I'm a poor player, and I say it to myself so that I don't start getting cocky or anything. It keeps me grounded. At the same time, I have confidence in my abilities to the point that they can help me win the game in one way or another. That's all I got for now.

Do do do dee do do do

I used to have the same problem, wanting to improve so bad, but you don't know how? I'm now very high tier in Vietnamese, Garena server. I recomend the following:
1. Get to lvl 30 quickly, rank SoloQ helps you improve a lot more, since everyone plays a lot more seriously
2. Watch Video's and Streams, they can help you a lot, follow the Na.LCS (google). I like this channel, "pro replays" on youtube. If you have time, take the time to watch full games and analyze, not just watch highlights and flashy stuff
3. Find champions that suit you, and practice them. Have goals and practice them, eg, improve mechanically, practice that every game then.
4. Finally, the biggest secret I have realized is, you simply have to play a lot....... you can make each game more effective by playing serious, and doing the above... but it all comes down to just getting more games down.

Keep in mind, there will always be people better than you and worst, whenever you think your good, it will smakc you in the face :p happens to me everytime.
OH finally finally, blame yourself, be harsh on yourself. don't blame your jungler and all that nonsense, look at yourself, and ask, how could I have played that better? rather than, that wasn't my fault, stupid jungler doesn't know what hes doing (even if it is the stupid junglers fault :p))

OK then, here is what I got.

1) Forget about winning and losing. Too much happens that is outside of your control. Focus on YOU and what YOU CAN DO BETTER. If it helps, get LoLReplay so you can play back the games you were in and take some notes.

2) A higher CS and low number of Deaths (5 is decent enough but always shoot for 0) is what is important. Being 21/17/3 is great and all but those 17 deaths is about 5,100 gold, and 7,650 MAX for assists. That is a Trinity Force and Bilgewater Cutlass on the minimum end. I could actually translate the gold values into HP AD and AP but I am going to move on.

3) Runes are pretty important. Here are the bare minimums: Reds: Flat Attack Damage and Magic Penetration; Yellows: Flat Armor. Blues: Flat Magic Resistance. Quints: Flat Ability Power and Attack Damage.

4) As a Katarina Main... she is bad for new players. I played her almost exclusively in my early rounds. Her play style encourages risky play and will get you in trouble when you start playing ranked. Spread out your champs a bit

I am in progress, i'm still getting better (still bad though) but here are some things that are really important to utilize and get better at
1.Last hitting
2.Map Awareness
3.Evaluating Champ strength (and general knowledge of champs)
4.Pressure>Kills (Pressure wins the game not kills)
5.Objective control

1.Creep score is the best thing you can use to your advantage in game, more minions=more gold=more items=stat advantage. If you can get that gold advantage on your opponent then they'll have a hard time catching up and will be forced to either be a weaker link in their team during teamfights or will have to farm while their team engages in skirmishes, last hitting minions and wave control is vital to winning your lane. To get better at last hitting you might have to play the champ you want to get better with quite a bit to get used to their AD but what I find works best is going into a custom game all by yourself with no runes, no masteries, and don't buy any items so you can just last hit minions the entire time, do this once a day and set goals for minions/10min and you'll definitely get better

2.Map Awareness is a very important skill for you and your team , ping your MIA and be sure to look down at the mini map every chance you get, every 5 seconds is a good goal to aim for (i tend to space it and my average is around 10-15 and i'm fairly good at catching ganks) ward and stay warded at all times especially when pushed too hard also it's a nice way to stay on top of enemies in other lanes and be prepped for ganks and even predicting if theyre going for dragon/baron

3.This is a skill that is mostly learned over time , you want to get a basic knowledge of as many champs as you can so you can know their cooldowns and how much damage they can take&receive compare that to yours before entering a fight and you'll have the upper hand, always remember knowledge is power

4.Pressure is how you win games, both teams could have 0 kills and the game could be won, you could be down 30 kills and still win, kills only bring an advantage to your team they aren't necessary and not worth dying for.If you really want to win you will pressure your opponent until they can't get farm and they can't take objectives, once that happens you win

5.Objectives are good for your whole team, they give your team a big gold advantage and in the case of towers they reduce your enemies vision on the field therefore reducing their safety zones and further reducing their objective seizing power leading to a huge gold advantage and paranoia on the enemy team when your whole team disappears from the mini

These are all great things to practice and will overall help your gameplay while making games seem more interesting and dynamic rather than static games where everyone is running for kills on the constant
Also, this guide helped me a ton when I was seeking ways to get better. It's long but totally worth the read

everything Kazega said here will help you improve.

And are a few more things you can do

Set Personal goals every round a certain cs at the 10 minute mark, if it's hard for you to get 50 make that your goal once you get 50 consistently up it to 60, then 70, etc start with a small goal so you can still focus on map awareness and harassing your lane opponent, that's just as important as cs.

Every time you die you have a rez timer use that time to think about your mistakes, why did I die here, what could I have done to live, etc. Most of the time you will find that your deaths are not caused by bad team-mates at least 90% or more of your deaths can be traced to a mistake you made. You can look at the map and see that your lane isn't warded and middle is mia, and the fact that your basically having a picnic under the other teams tower, with no mana and low HP, translates into basically holding up a sign that says "GANK ME free kill". So it doesn't always make it someones fault for not calling mia you should have seen it coming. Things to ask was I over extended, did I stay to long, am I building the wrong items, etc.

The goal should be to have the least deaths on the team.

If mid is your favorite lane play other mids, if you do when you go against them you will be better equipped at fighting them and winning your lane.

Also when learning new champions dominion is great place to practice skill shots you start the game at level 3 and a ton of gold. It's the perfect place to practice landing them skill shots, but that's about it.

anyway I hope my tips help you out, and the best of luck glhf

Quick Question: Was the Kat game in bots or PvP? I'm going to assume that the TF game was in PvP since you said there was an opponent.

1. Don't focus on wins, focus on self-improvement. Identify and learn from your mistakes. (Trial and error is good, but so is learning from sources that have already done that work. Try to watch streams and read guides to skip at least some of the learning curve)
2. Bots can only get you so far, but they nonetheless teach you the basics. Also use them to learn a champion that you're just trying out for the first time.
3. CS (and gold management in general) is your top priority when learning this game. It heavily influences your success.
4. Objectives matter more than score. Even if your team is behind on kills, taking more towers still means that you're winning.
5. Learn champions and roles. Knowing how to play a LeBlanc mid even when you're a Trundle Top main, and she was just on the free week roster, means that you can still play effectively no matter the role you end up with.
6. Map Awareness makes you a much more active team player.
7. Practice makes perfect. Especially when it involves a new set of factors that you haven't come across before.

This is the basic stuff, I'll list below game-sense you might be asking for.

1. Learn the difference between health, damage, and utility. (If you take a look at the recent update for bots, they had them become capable of deciding threat levels of champions much more efficiently.) Assess how much damage they can deal, how much they will deal, how much you can take/deal yourself, etc, to make sure you don't land yourself in the wrong situations or prevent yourself from being in the right ones.
2. Objectives are risky if the enemy is near it, so you be aware of their status and reaction time when going for them. Doing it during Aces or generally when they are far enough away is preferable.
3. Communicate with your team. Call out MIAs, make tunnel-visioned teammates aware of an incoming threat, call out who to focus when the fight starts, etc.
