Oh ho ho ho, trust me, this is very much a known bug. It used to be a lot worse, but Riot thankfully made a patch that fixed most cases. It still does occasionally come up though, like most bugs. Along with the skill shots firing backwards after a dash bug, this is also one of the most problematic.
