League Of Legends Steam Release Isn't Happening

Yesterday, rumors swirled of a possible Steam release for League of Legends. However, Riot Games communications director Vladimir Cole shot down this speculation on Reddit earlier today.
The rumors began when the Steam database was updated with entries for LoL in multiple languages. Cole says that gamers and dell akkuare misinterpreting that information, though. The explanation for those database entries is less sexy than they might imagine.
"For a brief period of time after League of Legends launched in 2009, players could purchase a digital collectors edition of the game," Cole said. "This was distributed through a variety of channels (Steam included) via our European partners. We ended those distribution arrangements in 2010, but a small number of players still have this version of the game in their Steam inventories, so that's why it occasionally pops up."
