Intro

Hi, my name is Bolivar. Welcome to my first ever mobafire guide! I'll be talking about a champion who I think is one of the best carries in the game, Gangplank. In this guide I'll be discussing the build I use, tips and tricks, and the runes I use.

Pros/Cons

PROS

•Parrrley has great damage and a short cooldown. The extra gold from last hitting is great too.
•Remove Scurvy will save you countless times and even get you kills if used correctly
•Cannon Barrage is very versatile and can be used in team fights, to kill an escaping enemy or to kill an enemy minion wave at your turret.

CONS

•Gangplank is squishy
•He can easily be countered by a good tank

Summoner Spells

I use Exhaust and Ghost. Exhaust can be used to kill an enemy or save yourself or an allied champion. Ghost and Raise Morale makes escape from Gangplank nearly impossible. Flash also is not a bad idea but I tend to use ghost and exhaust.

Masteries

I use a standard 21/0/9 mastery getting improved ghost and exhaust.

Skill Discription

Grog Soaked Blade

Description:Passive-Gangplank's basic attacks apply a poison debuff for 3 seconds that can stack up to 3 times. Each stack deals (3 + [1 x level]) magic damage per second and slows the target by 7%. This is a great passive. The slow is great for fighting champions and the poison is great for farming

Parrrley

Gangplank gains extra gold if Parrrley deals a killing blow. This ability can critically strike and applies on-hit effects, including his passive. Gangplank's bread and butter skill. I have maxed at 875 damage to an enemy champion and I am sure it has the potential to do much much more. It also has an extremely low cool down.

Remove Scurvy

Gangplank consumes a large quantity of citrus fruit which removes all crowd control effects on him and heals him. This is an extremely useful spell. It has great synergy with Raise Morale. Get out of a stun snare suppress etc. and speed away.

Raise Morale

(Passive): Gangplank's attack damage and movement speed are permanently increased. (Active): Gangplank fires into the air, disabling his passive boost but inspiring himself to gain additional attack damage and movement speed, with nearby allied champions receiving half that amount, for 7 seconds. Extremely useful in team fights and in getaways.

Cannon Barrage

Gangplank signals his ship to fire upon target area for 7 seconds. Each cannonball deals magic damage to all enemies hit. Enemies caught in the area of this ability are slowed by 25% for 1.25 seconds, with the duration refreshing if one stays in the area. A great spell to pick up some assists or kills. The whole map range makes it a threat to all enemies

Skill Sequence

I max Parrley first leveling it at 1,3,5,7,and 9. Then I get Remove Scurvy upgrading it at 2,8,10,12,and 13. I buy Raise Morale at level 4 but don't upgrade it further until level 14 finishing it off at levels 15,17,and 18. As all ultimate's go I upgrade Cannon Barrage at 6,11,and 16.

Items

1) I start off with boots of speed and 2 health potions. With your boots you're quite fast and can easily harass enemies and run away. The health potions are for any screw ups you have.

2) I try to build a Trinity force as fast as possible getting a sheen first. With sheen your your parrrley will do a substantial amount of damage early game. I get a zeal then phage. With the zeal you will still be fast even without your lucidity boots. I get phage last because I find sheen and zeal much more useful. After getting a Trinity Force I get my Tier 2 boots.

3)Infinity Edge is an amazing item for gangplank. Combined with his Trinity Force his Parrrley has the potential to do 500+ damage by 20 minutes in.

4) I get a Blood Thirster because you can farm quite easily and life steal is applied to Parrrley.

5) Phantom Dancer is another great item for Gangplank. With the extra move speed and his Raise Morale he can reach close to 550 move speed. Also the crit chance and attack speed make his Parrley and his melee extremely deadly

6)I finish off with a Last Whisper. Some may debate getting this earlier but I have found it not as useful as a Phantom Dancer or Blood Thirster

Tips and Tricks

•Try to get blue buff if no one is jungling or it is not needed by anyone else. With blue buff you will be able to constantly harass enemies with Parrrley and use Remove Scurvy to gain health.
•Know when to use your ultimate. The best time to use it is in team fights when the enemies are grouped together. Not only will it to great damage the slow will prevent them from escaping as easily. Try to look around the map to see any opportunities to ult another lane.
•Although you have Remove Scurvy remember, you are squishy. Try to Parrrley your enemies from a distance and run in and melee if they get low.
•Raise Morale effects all champions within a certain range. Use this to save your allies or to give them bonus attack damage
