Example, Ahri Mid vs AD Assass

Hi, My name is.....

Hi! My name is NovumJ, I am playing in European West-server (EUW). Currently I am in Gold V this season. Because this season meta is really hard to track what is really going on with nerfs, buffs and etc. I would like to teach how to play any champions in Mid Lane! My apologise for saying that this guide is for Bronze-players, but I am highly recommend you to read this even you are not a bronze!!

NovumJ is known in Gold-silver Elo as One trick pony Anivia.
People tends to play off meta champions, but it is hard to find out how to carry or get carried. How to snowball in every advantage you will face in the situations, it is hard to understand.
In my opinion, after reading this guide, you will able to experience yourself that this will help you a lot, by thinking this game in another perspective. In conclusion, you will play only off-meta midlane champions!

Why am I writing this general guide? Why you are doing this?

Sometimes when you want to play another champion. First of all, the mechanics are always hard to discover.

In my opinion, even you are try-hard or non try-hard, you need to practise your champions well. And Playing in normal blind pick, or normal draft, it is a nice game mode to practice, but not everybody is trying hard to play. Some are playing troll build, or just troll support and etc. playing and practicing in normal is hard to practice.

Since I am stuck in Gold elo, I am able to have this mindset, to play and practice new midlane champions, and with these different rune settings, you are able to practice yourself.

Trades, outplay mechanics, teamfight technique you can learn with these runes. That is what I believe. Sometimes you die really instant, and not able to see with your real eyes what was really going on. Since my rune setting is defense-based runes. These will help you give you a time to think.

Take time to think; Finger practices, mechanical practice, teamfight practi

Since we are learning how to play your own midlaner champiion well, my defense-based rune setting gives you a chance to practice in ranked, and 'shine well' in ranked

In mid-game, with core itmes (example: zhonya hourglass, Abyssal Scepter, defensive boots). You are able to reach 150-170 Armor/MR. And still you can make a decent damage in teamfight. With these defensive stats you are able to see and think clearly, which champion you have to focus in the teamfight.

In my opinion, when you are in a higher elo, you will probably not see any chance to see what is going on in fight. They will not give you a chance to think about decision.

Runes: VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE!

WHY I AM USING THESE RUNES THAT IS NOT IN THE META?

Example 1: When you play vs AP Midlaner
9x MR Marks
9x Scaling Armor Seals
9x Scaling magic Resist glyphs
2x Experience Quint (3x Exp Quint is recommended)
1x MR Quint

Example 2: When you play vs AD Assassin (Zed, Talon, Yasuo-san and etc.)

Runes

Precision
Press the Attack
Lethal Tempo
Phase Rush

The reason why I take these runes, is to play for your safety. Of course this is the normal rune setting for midlaner:

Normal average midlaner using runes:

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush

My rune setting is a very safe setting, that allows you to trade properly. Even you are bad in dodging skill shots, there is nothing to worry about. Your defensive stats will keep you safe in lanephase.

in Resolve Mastery Fearless , every skillshots you will not able to dodge, for example Prismatic Barrier from Lux, or Orb of Deception from Ahri, will tank you the first two seconds you get hitted!

Masteries: Deathfire touch and Fearless, the helper

I go for 18/0/12 for this Setting.
I completely understand every thoughts of you, that Running Thunderlord mastery is better than Deathfire Touch.

But to maintain yourself in every match. I go for Deathfire Touch . Deathfire touch doesn't make more damage than Thunderlord, but it will keep proccing every trade you are try to make.
If you are outtraded by enemy midlaner. The first two seconds you get tanked by {{Fearless}. I highly would like to recommend to try first in normal draft.

Spells: Teleport or Barrier

Since we play a little bit off meta in this guide. I recommend you to use Teleport or Barrier. It depends on your playstyle, but I use both to change playstyle.

High recommend Flash!!!!

The reason why we take Teleport, is the fact that you have to get in lane quickly, to benefit your EXP QUINT.

The reason why we take Barrier as second option, is to tank continue, if you think you will get tower dived. For example jungler as Lee Sin, Elise or Graves. You can take barrier. Fiddlesticks Warwick are also kind of champions that can dive you good in early game.

Please check and experience these summonerspells setting before going in ranked!

Ranked Play and Farm

RANKED
In ranked, you will play really serious.
In order to win the game good and lose the game good (self acceptance), you will have to organise a lot in the game.

My points to organise yourself, is as follows;

Burned Summonner Spells: If you dont know the time duration of Ignite or Ghost, dont worry. We only need to know Flash burn. The cooldown is between 4-5 minute.

Short example: when enemy midlaner Zed went all in in minute of 4. You immediately look the time of the match. And share your information to your jungler/teammates:

"Zed Flash up min 9"

These important information can be really useful!

As a midlaner, you will also have to share where the enemy jungler is. So please share every information you know.

FARMING

Try to farm a lot, and trade less in early game. This build will powerspike you more in mid game. while farming, keep a little distance between the ranged champion, or champion that can all in like Diana, Syndra or Yasuosan.

Summary, Conclusion

Since this guide means as general, it is not a depth or detailed guide. I want to share a bit about changing runes, experimenting runes how to climb the ladder more in safe way.

I believe after reading this guide, you are able to play more happy, because you will die less. In my opinion, it is hard to feed I would say! Your KDA will improve a lot. I would like to share some provement of my matches by using these runes

At the moment I played these rune setting with Orianna, Viktor, Kassadin and Ahri, the champions I dont play often or never practiced in normal games.

Thank you very much for reading this guide, I hope I helped you a lot by thinking the game in another way; stable, carry or get carried, but safe and risk maintain!
