No mention of Kogmaw synergizing good/bad with Vel, as well as no mention of match up vs Zilean... how would I do against or with them respectively?

I have always taken exhaust on Vel'Koz support but you take ghost. I find exhaust helps a lot in early fights down bot lane as well as neutralising dangerous enemies elsewhere on the map in mid/late game. Do you find that you run into disadvantages with ghost as one of your summoner spells? I imagine that if you don't get ahead it becomes rather lack luster. At least with exhaust it will always be useful.

The only disadvantage is your team will criticize you heavily. Imo ghost is required to use velkoz effectively. You need it to maintain control of the cat and mouse game even at support. Also in my games the meta is heavy damage in all lanes I need to exhaust mid jung and the adc but I only have 1. There is too much damage on the map exhaust won't keep you or anyone else safe. But flash ghost most certainly will.

Okay so I went through your guide to get more insight into your perspective. I've noticed you have an infatuation with movement speed :P

I particularly watched your video guide where you covered the usage of Ghost and Movement Speed runes. You raised some points I'd like to discuss.

First off, I think that if you're going to take ghost and all the movement speed masteries you should take normal non-movement-speed runes. Why? Because the game has what's known as a "soft cap" on movement speed. This means that the higher your movement speed the lower the effect of movement speed bonuses will be. This stops people travelling at 2000 movement speed and such. Because of this I think that your runes are being used inefficiently. From the start the 4.5% increase is rather small, but is made even smaller with Ghost activated, the Wanderer Mastery and the Explorer Mastery. To make it worse, you might even build Luden's Echo. I think that picking up 15 AP from your Quints is much more valuable. Especially for a champion who you described as the "strongest bully bot lane support".

The second point I'd like to address is much more focused on the Ghost summoner spell. You said that you dislike Exhaust and Ignite because their range is very low relative to your other ability ranges. This is fair. Yet I feel that they can still be put to great use. Remember, what is one of the most impactful damage sources in early game bot lane fights? Basic attacks. One missed auto could prevent you from getting a double kill. It often comes down to the wire. What does this have to do with Exhaust? Exhaust's range is 650 units. Vel'Koz's basic attack range is 525 units. If you are in auto attack range you are in Exhaust range. You can't say that you're always putting yourself in danger to cast Exhaust because you're doing that anyway with auto attacks which are crucial to win early game fights.

To add on to this, you also criticised the range of Exhaust/Ignite because nobody should be in that range of you outside of laning phase anyway. You are the backline. In almost every game assassins, bruisers, etc. are aiming for the backline, of course people are going to get within 650 units of you at some point. This is where Exhaust can be super useful to peel for yourself and allies.

What are your thoughts?

Also in my games the meta is heavy damage in all lanes I need to exhaust mid jung and the adc but I only have 1. There is too much damage on the map exhaust won't keep you or anyone else safe.

I'm not so sure this is the most convincing argument really. It's very generalised and slightly misleading considering that even if it is a high-damage meta: Exhaust counters it. I think you under-estimate the power of Exhaust. "Exhausts target enemy champion, reducing their Movement Speed and Attack Speed by 30%, their Armor and Magic Resist by 10, and their damage dealt by 40% for 2.5 seconds." That's insane. Exhaust can single-handedly turn a fight even if you use it on just one threat. Exhaust a Katarina's Death Lotus (R) and could save your entire team for example. Plus it is a spell that is suitable for almost any fight. You're caught? Exhaust. Trying to gapclose someone? Exhaust. Trying to neutralise that strong enemy? Exhaust. Those are only the obvious situations.

Meanwhile, Ghost is much more situational. For a start you're support, that means that unless you are snowballing the enemy is likely targeting your other teammates. It's not like ghost is necessary to kite people who aren't killing you. Also Ghost simply isn't applicable for as many situations as Exhaust.

Then there is the consideration of Ghost's synergy with Vel'Koz. I agree it can be very effective but it's not that good. Lifeform Disintegration Ray (R) roots you, that's 2.5 seconds of wasted Ghost usage in a fight. Also, Vel'Koz already is a superb kiter with his AOE slow and knockback already.

In summary, I believe that Exhaust is better suited for Vel'Koz support than Ghost because:
  • Exhaust is super versatile.
  • Exhaust is super impactful.
  • Ghost is more situational.
  • You're not always being focused like a mid-laner so Ghost isn't always necessary.
  • Ghost doesn't have this godlike synergy with Vel'Koz honestly.

Then again you are the one who plays this summoner spell regularly so you may know things that I don't about it. That's just my perspective.

I was wondering and i haven't test it yet, do you think greenfather's gift is better than bandit? I mean it seems to be a very strong mastery for lane, but you lose some gold, i suppose it's about 8-10 gold per wave (with hitting champions) so this is around 50 gold at minute 5 i know it s the price of a potion but with your support item help you get some items and you have it for all the game so it should give you sth like 1000 gold through the whole game (not too short or long game), when greenfather's gift after lane is usefull mostly at pick ups and almost unnoticed at teamfights. Well as i m writing this comment i convince myself that greenfather's is better as vel'koz is a lane bully and later he 'll have the damage he needs anyway, but tell me an opinion about it if you have time

Thanks for the comment friend. Greenfathers gift is a must have. You are over estimating the gold from bandit. Per game bandit gives close to 400 gold not 1000. Greenfather's is nasty in the bottom lane where you have the brush to abuse it on its low 9 sec cd. It's gonna get nerfed. Mark my words. 9 second cd is too low therefore the mage supports are abusing this mastery.

Does Vel'koz support do well vs this new Miss Fortune support????? I did not see her mentioned in your guide.

The matchup is favorable for velkoz. He out ranges MF and his true damage is more useful. Her lack of cc makes it difficult for her to stop Vel'koz. It is very snow bally as well. If Vel gets going he will choke MF out of lane from Q poke alone. One or two kills can easily turn into five.
