This is a great guide, but personally I felt that you should max Lulu's Q first, because of her extremely strong poke. Maxing her W second might not be really ideal, because IF you are maxing Q first you should have E maxed second for the barrier. Some of the things I want to say is already mentioned, so yeah ;v;
Overall, this guide is really nice, and good job on the BBCoding!

Something else I always do when playing lulu/most supports. Is I start off with the warding trinket and switch it it out for the sweeping lens once I grab my Sightstone.
But your guide is kinda stuck in season 3 with the complete ward start. Rushing your gold item is really important to staying ahead in gold right now.
Overall your guide is off to a good start but I think some item choices and runes could be changed since the gold quints aren't what they use to be, but I will be trying out the masteries later I will let you know how it goes
In reply to all the comments so far, thank you for having a read! Really! I like the feedback so far and have tweaked the guide slightly such as Q at 1, as on reflection E at 1 is less useful.
In terms of what you all commented on, I do play many variants of Lulu build and find that everything you are saying is true. I am not disagreeing as I play such Lulu's myself and have added a very brief second page (which I may expand later) just to highlight this to readers.
In terms of being "naĆÆve" and "you're right, but I still prefer my way", this 'bulky' build of mine seems to give me the most control on the outcome of a match. While I agree there are many builds that let Lulu thrive this is the version that seems to work for me based on my own personal skills and faults.
In terms of stacking so much armour, I am not afraid of dying or taking damage, but I thought people might say this. I used to typically run penetration marks to help me poke hard until fairly recently when I swapped them for more armour to try it out. I find that while it doesn't protect you against their Support, it makes you bulkier against their ADC which begins a nasty little game of psychology. If they have a passive support then you can CC and poke your lane easily to get a farm advantage, so it lures their Support out. I recently played against a Leona Support who picked up on this and my lack of Magic Resistance and tried to dive me several times. After a bit of light poking and using my Sweeping Lens to deny them vision I managed to trick the Leona to dive me, used my E to shield my ADC and let them walk over the lane for a double kill. Another consideration is that I find when laning against something like a Caitlyn you tend to get poked hard back and can never seem to lock her down, so the extra armour lets you make early game Caitlyn even weaker against you while you still have your CC to scare her.
TL;DR: The idea with this build is essentially sacrificing Lulu's potential to poke, and focusing more on supporting her team through other methods. Yes poking is Lulu's well known strong point, but I believe there are other routes you can go with her.
Please keep the comments coming! :)
(This may be chalked up to playstyle) In my opinion, Lulu is supposed to be a lane bully. Her Q is extremely long ranged (925), and her autoattack does so much damage since it has Pix's three extra bolts on top of her basic attack. Her kit should be used for more than just "babysitting" her ADC and "trying to put pressure on the enemy ADC". For me, Lulu's definition of protection is harassing the enemy laners away from the creeps and just being a huge nuisance. You shouldn't just "try" to put pressure. You should ;D
In this build, I think you're focusing too much on defense. I mean, taking Greater Mark of Armor (to me) seems like you're wayy to afraid of taking damage. I would suggest greater mark of hybrid penetration since it makes Lulu's amazing autoattack even more so! Also, I find ironic that you would go so far into defense in terms of Armor, but absolutely nothing in terms of MR. Most supports actually deal a lot of magic damage ( Karma, Leona, Thresh even), so even though you'd be tanky against the enemy ADC, you'd be at the mercy of the enemy support. I'd go with 6 MR glyphs along with 3 Mana Regen for the early game sustain.
I personally would take Q first. Here, let me explain why ^_^ While both Help, Pix! and Glitterlance do the same base damage at rank 1, your E is single target and your Q is AOE. This means that overall, should there be be multiple targets, Q would deal more damage in that split second. In addition, your Q has a huge slow. Even though you're sacrificing the shield, I find that it is better to be able to peel for you ADC early game, rather than shielding them from harass. After all, since Doran's Blade "nerf", ADCs can start with a health pot as well. Another reason why I believe Q should be taken first is that it is an excellent bush checker. This is especially true if you're invading (though it's not just limited to that. I find that it's also amazing for checking the tri-bush if you got to lane late). Since Glitterlance will make a distinctive sound when it hits something, it can alert you as to whether there is an enemy or not.
Oh geez, I could go on and on about Lulu in general, but I'll spare you the rest of the details xD Overall, it's a great guide, but I feel like there's some things that should definitely be addressed. Btw, is this you're first guide? I think you said that somewhere... But anyways, the coding is really nice! You're probably one of the few people who can do this well on their first try :D
With the trinkets you pretty much have at least one ward up permanently and you can even opt to get a ward on top of your trinket, even when starting with a gold income item. Besides that, you don't only get it for gold income, but the extra lane presence through the damage is a very nice plus as well.
You're using teamfights as an argument to max E first, but teamfights don't happen till later on in the game when you're far past level 9. The first spell you max is purely aimed at laning phase and thus you should max Q first in 90% of your matchups. You can max Q-E-W if you really value that shield highly.
The perseverance mastery got nerfed really hard and right now it's complete trash, especially during laning phase. So basically you're giving up 5% cdr, 10% cdr on activated items, bonus gold, experience and movement speed for 5 armor. Besides that, the enchanted armor mastery is useless cause you're not building much defensive stats at all and it only works with BONUS armor and mr. Do the math on how much benefits you gain from it before actually finishing a full build after 50 minutes into the game.
And again, do the math on how much you gain (and lose!) by going gold quints. 3 gold / 10 = 18 gold per minute. After 10 minutes, you've gained a total of 180 gold. When you pick HP quints (as I'd recommend you to), you get 75 health which is the rough value of 200 gold. However, that little bit extra HP allows you to go more aggressive in lane and get assist/kill gold and to snowball your lane. (If you were to go AP quints, you'd get even more value - about 300g)
EDIT: Forgot to mention: use hybrid pen marks. Super strong damage for laning phase.
I will take your advice into account, as I am always looking to improve in the game. :)
