Champion Build Guide

a mid sejuani guide by a mid player

By Tolis slayer
introduction
Hello dear jungle players of mobafire.i am tolis.i used to be a jhin otp stuck at high gold(you might have seen my jhin guide before)until a year ago.at that point no matter how much i loved jhin playing adc just became depressing so i decided to switch over as a full time sejuani jungle otp.Ever since i changed i feel like i have become a way better player currently hoveringat mid to high emerald, having as a target to actually get diamond before the end of the 2026 season.while im definetely not the best jungler i believe i have enough experience to be confident eough to make a guide on my 2nd favorite champ(despite not playing him much anymore jhin will always be my favorite character).Hopefully this guide will help some people become better at seju and some people actually pick up this champion
why to sejuani?
while sejuani used to be a very popular champ years ago both in solo q and pro play her relevance has unfortunately fallen off.despite she still has a lont of strengths

pros
-very tanky champ
due to her items and passive seju is a very stong tank which can be quite difficult for enemy team to kill
-good cc
seju has 3 separate cc abilities one of which can be proced many times in succesion as long as certain conditions are met, making her a great teamfight champ/disruptor
-good damage for a tank
Considering sejuani is a pure tank she does pretty decent damage too.after you stack some hp her w does a good enough amount of damage while also being pretty spammable due to a 4sec cd with only ability haste for unending despair, and her passive makes her do 10% max hp damage which can be proced easily twice in succesion. She definetely doesnt do tank bust/1v1 types of damage but she does enough where you cant really ingore her
-relatively easy to play
while not a free champ in the likes of maplhite, she has a low enough skill floor and enough skill expression to make her easy to pick up and makes you wanna keep playing her if you like her playstyle
-great ganker
with her combination of cc,mobility and damage she is a great gank champion and most decent ganks with her will definetely result in at least a kill
-good teamfighter
she does good damage, has a great teamfighting ult and tankiness and as long as things are going well, she can keep dishing out stuns
-great at making picks
her ult is a great long range stun/slow which is great for catching out someone overxtending.you can often win games because you made a great pick with ult late game

Despite her stregnth its obvious that she also has a good amount of weaknesses

cons
-not the greatest scaler
she isnt bad at all late game but as most tanks do she is weaker late since a adcs and mages can shred you late.you definetely dont mind going to late game but your stromgest point will always be up until the 25-30 min mark
-inability to get on a backline during teamfights
while a great temafighter since both your main cc can get blocked by one person she can have trouble at reaching the backline, unlike a malphite/zac/etc whic can usually just click at them.while a flash or ability to aim your q to pass between the frontline can fix that its not the most reliable solution
- team reliant
while you will occasionally be able to completely 1v9 with her this isnt something you can really depend on.you have to play around your team and trust them enough to know that your good engage/tankiness will allow them to win the game for you.frankly if you domt trust your team/looking for a flashy champ to 1v9 seju isnt the jungler for you
-kinda denpendant on team comp
since only melee attacks can stack your e you want at least one other melee in the team+ if you firstpick which i personally usually do you have to hope teamates notice you are seju so that not all of them go ranged champs
-relatively predictable to fight
your spell rotation is pretty simple and your q/w are attacks that are pretty easy to predict,so if the enemy is knows how to fight you and is good at dodging they can make it hard on you to really land any decent damage/cc
How to play sejuani
Seju is for the most part a ganking champ.considering your cc,mobility and not incredible clear speed you want to be permaganking early and making opportunities to get objectives.espcially post lvl 6 you have incredible ganks and as long as your teammate responds most ganks will net you a kill.personally since i play the jungle equivelant of a tank support i would suggest not going for kills.if you can let them get it safely a kill on your adc,mid laner or top will almost always be better than a kill on you
early game
You wanna start almost always at your blue side.its genuinely way easier and faster for you to clear gromp and wolves lv2 compared to raptors and krugs.when starting i like to smite blue lvl 1 since that gives me w quicker which really speeds up your clear.you then of course go to gromp and the wolves.after that you wanna go to raptors and use your q to jump oner the wall, then do your red and then finally q over the wall again for krugs.you wanna do full clear before ganking because puting a second point in w really enhances your damage a pretty good amount.you wanna usually get scuttle and then i see if there is a good angle for a gank/double scuttle. If you do see an opportunity you take it otherwise go recall and get a giants belt, which will improve your damage and clear speed by a lot.if you have 3 gold extra from a gank get boots too, while if you have 400 gold extra get a ruby crystal instead.after that you wanna be constantly ganking.especially the moment you hit lvl 6 and upgrade smite you wanna look for a botlane angle.a decent gank there all but guarrantees you get first drake too
mid game
this is your strongest.post 15 or so if the enemy jungler plays a daamge champ you will start falling behind on cs due to your slower clear speed.to counteract that you wanna be looking for opportunities to fight with your team.either try ganking your lanels or look for good opportunities for 2v2/3v3 river skirmishes.that especially go for when objectives are spawning since you are a really good pick champ and pickking off one of the enemies 20 secs before drake spawns is almost a surefire way to get said drake or even a baron.remember you wanna try to end game asap considering how prominent hypercarries like twitch jinx or yunara are and how much they are gonna shred you late game
late game
you wanna stick close to your team at the late game.rememebr at this point of the game you probably wont really be the unkillable tank you were before.you wanna stay on the frontline, get vision and try to take advantage of every pick you can get.if you do get one you will probably be able to do baron and end.You have multiple ways to use your ult in any given teamfight.you can throw it quickly for a stun on their frontliner+big aoe damage/slow on the rest of the team, you can keep it enough to try to find an angle on the enemy adc and use it to one shot it or you can keep to peel for your backline the moment they are jumped.whichever option you use really depends on the situation and on you but i would say i msotly use it for the former 2 circumstamnces
tips and advice
-dont blindly throw out your q early game, its on a quite long cooldown and pre r its your only way to get on top of people.if you are certain you can will hit the opponent then use it immediately otherwise try to bait any dashes/flash.very often since people are too focused on trying to juke the q they will just stay there and fully allow you to stack your e
-the following combo in the best way to maximize your damage.you q in,aa once then w then aa again to fully stack your opponent, then you stun him,aa once to proc your passive and immeditely r then aa/w again.at around lvl 7 that deals a solid 20% max hp and adding on everything else you will do about 80% of a squishys hp leaving you free to finish oof your low hp enemy.remember in a 1v1 you never want to r before you get your e unless your enemy is on very low hp on the 1st place
-actually using your r is more nuanced than you would think.after stunning an enemy as seju for the next 8 secs they cant gain stacks again so if you r someone you cant r then e someone but you can stun him with e first and the r him which maximizes both the cc and the damage as discussed already.for that reason you gotta consider yourself ig when on a small skirmish you have enough damage to kill someone with just r or if you wanna go the slower and riskier, yet more rewarding route of stacking someone then ulting him.from my experince this has probably been the hardest aspect of learning to play seju and there have definetely been amny times where we have lost on kills where i got greed, where if i just used r we would have gotte the kill
-if you are on top of someone and havent ulted yet you usually wanna let them get slightly out of range before ulting.if your r travels 25% of the max distance then it becomes a stronger version of the ult where it does more damage, stuns for 1.5 secs instead of 1 and creates an ice storm that slows and deals damage again.
-sometimes its absolutely worth to throw out the r even if you knwo it will miss.it explodes on the icy storm at full range the icy storm deals a huge aoe slow and after a couple seconds deals the damage the ult would do aoe.so even if you dont land the r the slow is very often all you need to catch up on the enemy and kill them, and especially late game it has a relatively low cd which becomes even lower if you build protoplasm or zekes,so dont be afraid to ult
