(First paragraph - Introduction. Useful stuff - From the second on)

New here, I can see these last posts were in about 2011, but as I am not aware if Mobafire has any statements to be followed such as "to do not revive a post" (as a lot of forum-sites that I visited had), I shall comment - and bring it back to life.

This is quite outdated (and not only the Masteries, I mean). The last edit (2011) says that Archangel gives 5 gold/s with some sort of passive, but that does not exist any longer. So I guess that Philosopher Stone's still a good item (at the start).

Not only that, I may say that after a Lichbane is made (In the given order, Lucky Knife > Philosopher Stone > Mobility Boots > Lichbane - and not ignoring the wards as starting items of course) a Rylai could be of good use, as it not only gives AP, but also (if you excuse me for the term), a ****LOAD of HP and DEM slows (Alistar passive after he casts a spell keeps that **** up for quite some time).

Still, the Archangel is necessary, as Alistar is MANA HUNGRY AS HELL. And as it is, taking either Rylai or Archangel after the Lichbane is kind of a hard choice (made easier if, after getting the Lichbane, one were to sell either - or both - the Philosopher Stone or the Lucky Knife, so a more AP-focused build could be made - Rabadon'd be a nice item to pick next).

With the recent buff to Tenacity items, have you ever tried an early philosopher's stone into late game Eleisa's Miracle? It can make a real cheap sixth item, and let you keep your boots.

I like this build but I do have some slight modifications to fit me better. Still a good guide.
Oh and please stop calling Alistar a ****ing cow! He's a minotaur, and even if he was of the cattle breed he would be a bull. Not a cow.

I just don't understand how you plan spending 11K gold if you don't farm and don't really jungle and buy a lot of wards. This is just impossible.

Early gank may give some gold, but if you fail? Roaming you will be like 3-5 levels behind their smart carry, underfarmed and underleveled. If they focus you they will kill you even with your ulti up. The only chance is that if your curry is even smarter, otherwise you loose.

After roaming 30 minutes of game with Kage you will earn like 3-4K, in best case 5K with good Dragon control, assists and lane coverings. Buying at least 2 wards every 3 minutes will get 1,5K gold. So in average case with competitive enemies you will have only 3,5K gold earned at the point when most of games end, which means you able to buy only Boots, Tear and maybe complete Sheen.

Is this AP Alistar guide? If yes - please explain where you plan to get the rest 7 money of gold at least to complete Rabadon (which a sor of must for AP champion). Or this is guide playing vs AI?

since I wrote this guide this is the second nerf to alistar on his AP ratio's. Since dream hack Alistar has been banned often; personally I would prefer a Great alistar i get to play than an OP alistar I never get to play. But all and all yes it a nerf, but the build is very viable

What do you think about the latest patch?
It reduced his Headbutt ratio to .7, Pulverize to .5, and Triumphant Roar to .2...

This is a very interesting guide, and it deviates from the normal Tank Alistar. I really like this build.

I was annoyed i could not play with ali, but after trying this build and advices Im usually having fun with this champ.

You could try with ap per leven glyphs and quint for flat ap,i think they help more for FB at 2 lvl with w/q combo
Also i woulnt take archangel cause u dont really need so much mana if u can take blue better to rush death cap and lich bane (after boots for cd and dorans)

In all honesty the reason is this. This is a roaming build and u will be slow on items. Honestly I will be shocked if some one finishes this build. but in addition BUY wards. never carry 6 items with ALI.
